  1. Isn't it safest, Alison, if we make comments based on our own viewings rather than referring back to the views of others? For what it's worth, I felt that (in alphabetical order) Ball, Campbell and Muntagirov did much better in offering us a character than many Princes in the recent past. And, yes, I did see them all live!
  2. In this respect, it is interesting that Yasmine Naghdi emphasised in her Dance Europe 'interview' how much she valued the fact that Alexander Agadzhanov pushed her really hard and then pushed some more.
  3. So right, bbb. Anna Rose has, from her White Lodge days at least, been one of those (comparatively rare) dancers who comes on stage and says, "Here I am!" irrespective of role. Love it; love her!
  4. What seems to have happened is that Sergei Polunin's own 'take' on how he was feeling and why he left the RB has changed over time. That is very understandable. The inconsistencies may possibly derive from the inability of the Press to 'move on' with him but, if he now sees things differently, I wish that someone had been there to advise him on how to couch his change of tack. He seems to have many people buzzing around him over this, that and the other but no real 'support'.
  5. I think that we are also discussing this on a separate thread. However, if I were to try to buy more than 4 tickets per performance, I would be blocked. So I don't understand how it is possible.
  6. Yet, elsewhere today, he has said that the Royal Ballet wasn't the reason he wanted to quit dancing.
  7. I get this feeling from Yasmine Naghdi, Francesca Hayward and Anna-Rose O'Sullivan - and there are others in the corps: Isabella Gasparini, for example
  8. Oh dear. Sleeping beauty this afternoon was marred for me by an excessively fidgety person next to me (it made me feel on edge myself) and seat kicking children behind me.
  9. Oooooh, Alison. I don't really like the idea of the audience 'assessing' dancers. ---------------- I so agree with what has been said above about Yasmine Naghdi. I feel that she has made the role of Aurora her own: beautiful; sensitive;musical; technically secure. And this is still only the beginning.............Come on, Kevin, you know what you have to do - preferably NOW!!!! Matthew Ball gave, I thought, a strong performance today. He seemed more 'in role', less concentrated on the steps per se and, as a result, his Prince 'lived' and his dancing flowed. Although it is early days for him in classical works in particular, I really feel that I am watching an artist, not just a dancer. Among the interesting supporting cast, Anna-Rose O'Sullivan, Benjamin Ella, Luca Acri, Gina Storm-Jensen and, of course, Elizabeth McGorian shone the brightest for me. Gina is a benevolent Lilac Fairy and exudes the kind of grace and goodness which seem to elude other occupants of the role this season.
  10. So it was Twyla Tharp who came out of the Stage Door with Kevin one day last week!!!!!! With all these leaks, the sooner the RB capitalises on the interest and issues a press announcement the better.
  11. I think that we may be working on an erroneous assumption that Tharp is developing a full length ballet. What's the betting that it's part of a triple bill?
  12. Further to Nina G's list above, Yasmine Naghdi also danced in Giselle Reimagined (sorry if I have misremembered the title) where she demonstrated what a beautiful 'real' Giselle she will be.

  14. I thought that the lights have been slightly lower at recent performances? Even so, on two occasions, some people near me have made to stand up, expecting another interval and then loudly proclaiming that were wasn't one!!!!
  15. I find that I can appreciate all three of the female dancers you mention, Lindsay, but in different ways. There is one whose overall artistry has the edge for me (of course, we all see things different ways) but I do hope that we are not going to have a re-run of the 'competition' which was on here a while ago. I want to just be able to rejoice in the amazing young talent before us at the RB.
  16. Not disagreeing with you (I have 'liked' your post) but, were I in Kevin's shoes, I would have promoted Yasmine Naghdi to Principal after her Aurora this afternoon. She was AMAZING!!!! More when I've had time for it all to sink in.
  17. Am I correct in thinking that there was a Mona Inglesby/Rowena Jackson combo long, long ago - ?International Ballet?
