I wouldn't agree that the filming of DD was sub-optimal. It was just a different viewpoint, with different choices. That's one of the benefits of going to the cinema relays, in my view - particularly seeing dancers' acting up close rather than the bigger picture from way back in the auditorium. Especially back in the days when it was actually more expensive than going to the ROH in the cheap seats. And if you look at every other company that's done live relays, I think you'd see other "mistakes". Certainly I've seen choices at the Bolshoi, POB and Australian Ballet which I though were less than optimal. I presume that all the other cameras are still running and their footage recorded when a particular viewpoint is being shown - it will be interesting to see whether different views are edited in prior to streaming/DVD release. I believe that was done in the Swan Lake DVD, where there's no sign of Francesca Hayward overbalancing in a landing in the Act III pas de trois, for example.

That sort of thing happens a lot. I not infrequently complain to owners of mailing lists about not receiving mailings - a couple of cinema chains are my next targets. The last time I raised the issue, someone said I'd unsubscribed myself, which I certainly hadn't.

I think the "child" comment was because MacMillan was inspired by his young daughter to create the Pie Jesu part. Otherwise, she's definitely not a child.

Nope. Can't get onto YT on this £$%£"$^ train. Don't remember there being any ban on streaming in the T&Cs- 535 replies

Thinking about last-minute replacements in Requiem, which I was after Saturday, I recall a dancer - I think it was Bennet Gartside - having to be replaced in a previous run. By three different dancers! It was very complicated. All the more credit to the company for the way they coped on Saturday.

Having had my own knee cartilage "cleaned up" a couple of decades ago, I trust the medical staff in this case will know better than to claim you can be back at work in a couple of weeks (if it is merely an arthroscopy)! It sounds like it, anyway. Best wishes to both James and Rio for a full recovery, and I look forward to seeing them back next season. -

I must admit, it does amuse me rather to see "only" 7 performances of Coppelia scheduled - and no mention at all of the other full-length works. Such a difference from e.g. the Royal Ballet! -
Hi, Tiaramum. I've added tags to your post which may be helpful. Certainly the "accommodation" one brings up several threads on accommodation for ENBS, and I think some are specifically for summer courses. Do note, though, that far from all threads are tagged, so you may have to go searching further afield.

A lot of Picturehouses seem to go for a midweek daytime repeat showing, which may not be ideal for people who work, although I suppose it is a completely different time of day if people can't manage evenings.

I'm sure Kurihara would be fine if you wanted to continue with that. I haven't seen Hirata for quite some time, and am not sure how she is currently - I think she's been off with injury for quite a while, unless I'm thinking of last season.

I was assuming he had. I meant to say, too, that I think we may have been one soldier short in Different Drummer, too: I thought there were two groups of five plus the four named ones, but I thought last night there was only one five. It did leave me wondering whether there was some bug or something doing the rounds.

Well, I'd like to see both Tombeaux and Prodigal Son reinstated from the lockdown-hit mixed bills - but probably not the other components. And yes, a bintley bill would be very nice - was it Consort Lessons the RB did, or the one I always confuse it with? But we're getting into the realms of wishlists again.

I think triggered by the presence of an Onegin costume in one of the display cabinets along with one from Alice?
