The Sitter In
The following is from a media report/ press release on the company’s June visit to London. What are ROH / RB management doing. Undermining themselves and their guests it seems. Also why can’t they alternate ballet and opera so that when one is on the main stage, the other is in Linbury? This is what other big companies do. It is not rocket science.

Dawnstar
Quite apart from clashes with the RB, I hadn't realised that the Sarasota performances were quite so squeezed together. In order to see all 3 programmes one would have to pay 3 visits to the ROH in a maximum of 5 days including back to back days for the gala & programme 2. Though admittedly it's probably going to be so difficult to get any tickets at all for those of us who only have general public booking that the issue of having to go down to London 3 times in 5 days is unlikely to arise!

It sounds a bit like a play (possibly an Ayckbourn?) I recall reading about where 3 performances went on simultaneously with actors moving between different stages. The audiences would have had to book 3 performances in order to see all of it. Not that that's going to be possible for the ballet, with only one gala performance taking place.

Sounds like gimmicky fun for the companies, but infuriating for the audience
Peanut68
I am saddened that they are in Linbury only…. I’m sure with right marketing they’d sell out MainStage for some/all performances -esp. the Gala Almost think they’d be better being at the Coli or Sadlers…. Although I expect the string Ashton link of ROH made this the preferred venue…
alison
Maybe not sadlers, but surely the Peacock?
BeauxArts
I agree that the Linbury is not a great venue - some of the sight lines are very poor.
Bruce Wall
This is isn't explicitly about the Sarasota/Royal connection - but does relate to Ashton and specifically his Dream - which the Royal Company will dance in June - and is a charming story as related by Jake Roxander of ABT who many saw with ABTII in the LInbury (another connection) brilliantly dance the Stars & Stripes (Balanchine) PDD when they visited. He's now a kind of wunderkind at the main company. I saw him thrill in a demonstration of story ballets at the Guggenheim on 8th October. In any event this is about Ashton and familial connections. Thought a few here might enjoy. https://www.instagram.com/p/CybXuwgA2o3/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D Edited October 16 by Bruce Wall 1
