Primaballerina1 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) I've just come across this site and had some questions to ask about it as so far it seems perfect for DD! What age is juniors from? For the juniors, is the ballet class Pilates and rep all in 1 hour? Do you have to audition for the summer school or be part of the associates? Is the training good and worth the money as it seems quite cheap? When is the audition if there is one?How much does it cost a year? Can you chose to do one lesson and not the other? Any other info would be fab! Thanks Edited November 2, 2015 by Primaballerina1
Jan McNulty Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Here's a link to the website? http://www.surreyballetmasters.co.uk If you get any answers from the company for the general questions I am sure our other members will be interested in the responses because they do seem interesting. 3
amos73 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Hi Primaballerina1 These classes are run by Emma Northmore, who is ex ENB soloist. She teaches my DD at YDA and she also covers for MAs at the Royal. She is a fantastic teacher, my DD loves her and has come on so much under her tutition! I can't recommend her highly enough. 1
amos73 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 PS DD did the summer school and had a FABULOUS week.
Francesizzi Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Emma Northmore is fabulous, the kids love her. She also teaches the open classes at Pineapple and Danceworks. If you have any questions just email her. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Primaballerina1 Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 Thanks for the comments does anyone know which day the classes are held?
Jan McNulty Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I am sure the school will be able to answer that question if no other members can. 1
Primaballerina1 Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 Oh don't worry I just looked at the dates and worked out they are all on a Saturday
double trouble Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 My dd has also done few classes with Emma and really enjoyed it x
Loulabelle Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Just resurecting this thread as Emma Northmore is running an Easter course 6th-8th April at Pineapple. It's called Ballet Boost and there is a link to it on the Surrey Ballet Masters website and there is also a Face Book page called Ballet Boost. My DD will be attending this course, it has a fabulous faculty including Roberta Marquez and Emma will be teaching herself. It's very reasonable price wise I think for the three days and you can get an early bird discount if you book before 4th Jan. I don't have any personal link to Emma but my DD thinks she's an amazing teacher!
amos73 Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Yes, Loulabelle My DD is also attending the Ballet Boost course at Pineapple. It looks fantastic and Emma is such a wonderful teacher. My DD loves her.
Primaballerina1 Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 Anyone know if you have to be en pointe for the Easter course??
amos73 Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 My dd has just begun pointe this term. I would contact Emma through the website and ask.
Primaballerina1 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Has anyone heard the 2016 dates for the summer course as they don't seem to be up on the website yet? Or am I just being to eager and checking way too early?!
Francesizzi Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 believe it is week of the 25th july and it is going to be at Pineapple Studios this time. My daughter really enjoyed last year.
Primaballerina1 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 Thank you francesizzi did your DD find it challenging?
Primaballerina1 Posted December 28, 2015 Author Posted December 28, 2015 Does anyone know if the standard is particularly high at SBM summer school as DD doesn't want to feel out of her depth there (she is 12 and a grade 5 in ballet)
Francesizzi Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Emma does manage to make it the right level for all. I would give her a call or email and ask her to call you. she is helpful and all the kids she teaches seem to love her as she makes it fun.
Emma northmore Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) Hi lovely Ballet mums........the summer school is definitely week of 25th july and bookings can now be made. Ballet Boost is a particularly great opportunity as as far as I am aware Will Tuckett has not been teaching like this before and he is a person with a wealth of knowledge to impart to the dancers. Plus he is fabulous fun and inspiring!! The classes are being kept to 20 or so students too so they feel they have been taught properly, so its all quite exciting. Early bird finishes 4th january! at midnight!! Edited January 3, 2016 by Emma northmore 1

amos73 Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 No double trouble she is just turned 11 so is in the other group. She said last night she wishes it was carrying on all next week. She is LOVING it. 1
Francesizzi Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Yes my daughter enjoyed it too. Great few days, excellent teachers and plenty of helpers with advice and time to talk. there was a flyer on the desk advertising her summer course, with another great selection of guest teachers. rushed out without picking it up, did anyone else get the dates?? 1
amos73 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Francessizzi it is the 25-29 July - I've booked dd on already. The dancing at the end we got to watch was fantastic. My daughter was on such a high she came home and continued working on the don Quixote variation till collapsing at 10 on the sofa exhausted - just wouldn't stop! So inspiring for her to have the opportunity to learn from so many great dancers and teachers this week. 3
double trouble Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 I couldn't get to watch as working !! But my DD enjoyed everything about it and felt she improved ! She loved all the teachers and was definetly a positive 3 days . Would of booked for summer as well but it's almost same dates as Russian Masters summer sch and have paid already xx
