  1. My girls did cheer leading and acro classes which helped massively with their flexibility. When they stopped those activities and focused on dance, they maintained their flexibility by continuing to stretch at home which has helped in their technique classes. I would recommend if you can enrol your daughter in a “tumble” class or acro class that would really help
  2. Yes very true. I stay in the room and observe, make sure she’s not over doing it. As I said, definitely need to ensure they have a good warm up before hand. I think sometimes we tread so carefully about all this stuff, if you’re in the room you can supervise them. This is the option we use and it works for us. Others may find another route. I was just sharing.
  3. My daughter does YouTube Hannah Martin tutorials and Anna McNulty. Not too much equipment needed. They don’t tend to warm up that well so spend 5 min doing some sort of warming up.
  4. Thank you @BolshoiAre applications still open? Don’t suppose you know if it’s done by year group or ability?
  5. What are other options for an associate programme other than RB for year 7
  6. Probably better to just wear socks since it’s preferred and they wear socks in their classes in year 4 and year 5.
  7. Wanted Cinderella ticket x 1 eve performance on 22nd April
  8. What does the timetable look like at ballet boost?
  9. @B.wightman1 you lay on your back and put the soles of your feet together so the legs end up in a diamond shape. It is meant to show rotation and aid flexibility in the hip area
  10. @Workhard_Dreambigwishing all the best with your exam. I’m planning on taking my advanced foundation, wasn’t quite brave enough to jump to advanced 1! My pointe work is my weakness. Only thing that’s ever helped me with pirouettes is squeezing the arms in and although it doesn’t look the best, I get round!! (Most times 🙈) look forward to hearing how it went 💫
  11. I just checked the website, there is no link to the application. You could try and email them however more likely have a chance next year now. Sorry you missed the date. It used to be that the dancers dance school would discuss with parents about applying for different things outside the normal extra curricular dance classes and they would keep up with all the dates for applications etc.
  12. It’s worth a try if you can still apply. I’m assuming if the application has closed then you cannot access the online portal which is how you apply these days.
  13. Do they still do “prep” at vocational school? If not, where do they do their home work?
  14. Based in Essex we have a few amazing teachers locally. Groups classes and private lessons could be manageable, It’s just a lot of money isn’t it! The travelling to associate programmes, funding costumes and all the different uniforms etc plus if they want to be a part of LCB/EYB, masterclasses, spring/summer schools, competitions….. I can only imagine the older they get, the more money it will cost. Of course, if you have the money I think it’s quite doable especially if you’re close to London with all the suggestions that have been made.
  15. Just talking hypothetically here….the results are in. Unfortunately, it's a no for Whitelodge, Elmhurst, and Tring, for example. So, what's the next step? If vocational training is not an option, what other types of training could be pursued? How many hours per week should be dedicated to training, and how many private and group lessons should be taken? Additionally, what extracurricular activities could help maintain strong technique? Should festivals be put on hold in favor of bigger global competitions? I'm curious about the alternatives available for those who don't attend vocational school in year 7.
  16. Does anyone have a ticket spare for the pre general 23/3 Cinderella?
  17. I heard 9 girls would not continue their training and 4 boys, that’s all I heard but I do not know for sure
  18. wanted 1 or 2 tickets 18 MARCH 2023 SATURDAY, 7PM
  19. Do the results come out same time? Do the schools have a strategy for gaps in results?
  20. I will possibly be in this situation this time next year, awaiting results! Bit premature however I wonder, for instance, if you get offer from Elmhurst in the mean time how long is the window to respond?
  21. No need for professional photos and if you meet requirements (age) everyone gets offered an opportunity to audition regardless of pictures
  22. As far as I was aware the online course is offered at same time as the in person classes. I’m not sure if you can get waitlist for online classes or the waitlist is for the in person classes.
