  1. Hi Spannerpony, Yes correct but carried on up through associate classes untl 16.
  2. She's loving it. On tour in the Nutcracker at the moment and only a first year student. Off to China next year on tour! Drove up and watched it in Greenock Sat....beautiful and Sarah and Johnathon's Pas de deux was exquisite. I don't think I am going to get dd to come back to London!
  3. Hi Tulip, I agree with you. But listening to some of the mum's at Central Associate who girls dance school was Central and had been going there since they were 5,6,8 and 10 year olds you would think at least a couple would have got in. They were shocked to say the least. But saying that I have also noticed a lot of 16 year olds that never got in one year got in the following year at same school. I wondering if some girls might have pulled out because they miss home, not what they thought it would be or were not ready at 16 so the schools are looking more at 17 year olds.
  4. My dd is at Ballet West in Scotland. Wished she had auditioned for Central as we only live 3/4 mile away!
  5. Apparently no one got into full time Central from the associates then a few weeks later asked to audition again but they had already accepted places elsewhere? For my dd LSB was more demanding and she wished she stayed there. But fir the full time students its brilliant!
  6. Just got my letter, 26 year 7 in WL audition & 20 year 8/9/10's
  7. Just to let you know LSB you can stay on until your 18.
  8. Dd teacher taught there and left last year, enen she said its change.
  9. Central Associates. Completely different teachers to Central full timers. Loved contempory there though. Even Advance 1 she didn't enjoy there. At one stage my dd said every week they did the same work, she and some others stopped going.
  10. My son goes to vocational school and is loving it. Last year I was driving him to school in one town then driving 25 miles to his dance school 4 nights a week. Some nights not getting home until 10. Now he is home between 3.45 and 7, had academic work and dance lessons. he went to a private school in Abingdon and I was concerned about his academics but I am now happy.
  11. my dd went to Central and left last year. she was in her last year and hardly did any pointe work, maybe every 3 weeks or so. she also went to LJB and there she did a class of pointe only with Miss Maden who is brilliant. she use to teach at Central but left a couple of years ago. LSB and LJB highly recommend. My dd wished she never left there.
  12. Ballet West is a good summer school. Jonathon and Sarah are amazing teachers. They teach RAD Avanced 1, 2 and Solo seal. Students in and have won Genee comps. Both girls on RAD Genee posters are from Ballet West. Summer school starts beginning June. My ds is JA at RBS, has done WL summer school which he loved and spplied again. Wants to go to Ballet West summer school. £500 a week with accomodation and food.
  13. There are 8 JA's from my ds class London got through to finals. What other Centres are there?
  14. My dd is at Ballet West. First year student and on tour already in the Nutcracker. Next year China. Summer school £500 aweek. Try it out. My dd and I was in a car crash last year head on with a landrover, he was drunk. Messed her auditions and was going to audition again this year. Physio and teachers said about Ballet West and Gillian Barton auditioned her and she got in. Was going to come back this year and re audition for RBS, Central etc and decided not to as she loves it up there. Only school where you have a performance course run along side HND which will be BA Hons in 3rd year. When she finishes in3 years she will have 3years performance experience under her belt.
  15. The best tip my ds was given was watch as many ballets as you can. What a difference in him. When on stage at the ROH he could tell you all the moves, who did what and notices mistakes. I really believe ds wouldn't have got this far without watching ballet dvd's
  16. I always tell my ds there is always someone out there better than you. You have to embed this into their brain so if rejected its not hard on them. When he got final at WL he was happily surprised and said...at least I got this far!. He doesn't expect to go all the way. He doesn't want to go to Elmhurst or anywhere else (at the moment) my dd didn't like Elmhurst, she thought it was a bit strange. For ds he talks as if he is back at YDA in Sept. he is under no illusion he will get in. Ds knows hundreds audition for places, grades do not matter at the end of the day. If you are what they want you will get a place. I have met parents at Genee comps putting their children on pedestals and when they did their dance it was embarrassing. They make their children believe they are the best and their not. Its so sad.....
  17. When do MA's come out for London. Will my ds have to say yes/no for WL before MA's are allocated?
  18. Her number is 0207 402 7700. If you can't get to her she may know someone.
  19. Shirley Hancock. She is based at Herdmans Pilates, London and I know she travels to KS Dance up north from London.
  20. When ever my ds or dd had and injury I would go straight to Shirley Hancock (use to be physio at Royal) £55. I found the longer I left it the more £55's it cost me! She is 2 min walk from Marble Arch.
  21. My ds had a yes for WL finals!
