  1. šŸ™‚, Iā€™m not sure if this was intentional or a Freudian slip, whichever it made me laugh a lot. thank you
  2. Haha I havenā€™t yet seen a did O-O at ROH so it just comes down to personal preference. If youā€™re unsure about detaching from MN/VM perhaps go halfway and book Fumi Kaneko & VM. Or as ABBA sang ā€œTake a chance, take a chanceā€¦.ā€
  3. somewhere fantasticā€¦. I saw his performance on Tuesday night and hope he continues to have a bright future ahead
  4. Iā€™ve seen this production in both Southampton and Birmingham plus excerpts at the recent Evening of Tchaikovsky Music & Dance. Admittedly it would have been nice to see Ms Cojocaru dance Aurora and her withdrawal is unfortunate. Iā€™d flag up however that, with the talent currently residing in BRB, it was probably unnecessary for her to be invited to dance in the first place. (And perhaps her withdrawal has saved BRB a few quid in the process.) The Aurora/Prince castings for any date are all excellent. My mouth is particularly watering to see CĆ©line Gittens and the new wunderkind on the block Yasiel Hodelin Bello. And that is without mentioning the depth of talent that dances roles such as Bluebird etc.
  5. With no performances from 10 -18 June, plenty of time for sightseeing too šŸ˜‰
  6. Thanks Interesting, given that Sarasota Ballet finish in the Linbury Theatre on June 9th, that it will dance all performances of The Walk to the Paradise Garden which run until June 22nd.
  7. BRB regrets to announce that due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Alina Cojocaru will not be performing with the Company at Sadlerā€™s Wells theatre on 25th & 27th April as previously announced. Updated casting for our Sadlerā€™s Wells shows is available on our website. 8. here's the choreographer's bio: Photography: Anest Roberts Biography Osian Meilir is a performer, dance-maker and movement artist from Wales. Originally from Pentreā€™r Bryn, on the west coast of Wales, Meilir went on to train at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, attaining a first-class degree, before continuing his studies and completing his M.A. in Dance Performance as part of Transitions Dance Company. Meilirā€™s work as a performer has seen him working with artists such as Jo Fong, Lizzi Kew Ross & Co, Gwyn Emberton Dance, Satore Tech and Fearghus Oā€™Conchuir at National Dance Company of Wales. His work also expands into working in theatre for young audiences, performing in works by Carlos Pons Guerra and Cahoot NI, touring across the UK and internationally, as well as his own solo work for Arad Goch Theatre Company - Palmant / Pridd (Pavement / Pasture). He premiered his first mid-scale production - ā€˜Qwerinā€™, as director and choreographer in 2021 and developed and expanded the work to its full length for touring in 2022. 'Qwerin' has since toured internationally, appearing in festivals in Australia in 2023. Meilir also has extensive experience in leading workshops and classes for children, young people and adulst alike. Meilirā€™s very early experiences and background of Welsh folk dance has led him to appreciate dance from all different cultures, and to enjoy how dance can build meaningful bridges between people from around the world.
  9. I think Reece Clark tops the chart with 6 scheduled visits
  10. Apologies crossed wires. I was referring to the child of 8-12 sitting in front of me.
  11. On an Easter theme, can anyone ascertain if this is a real step? https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5Ju9UXy-Q5/?igsh=MTk4dmtrbDZneDl4bA==
  12. a cornucopia of reasons spring to mind inter alia: the parent thought he/she knew better than the child what he/she would like and was ready for in terms of age appropriate content and/or length the parent wanted to boast to other parents that "fill in name here" had been to the ROH to watch Swan Lake during the Easter holidays the parent wanted to give the child the experience of going to the ballet and wasn't sure what the reaction would be the child thought he/she would like it but didn't the child was liking bits of it, it but it was going on too long for them to stay engaged until the end (a common occurrence at any Nutcracker) the child, too young to be left home alone, was there under duress as part of a birthday party for a sibling whose treat this was a seat at the ROH was cheaper or more convenient than sourcing/paying a babysitter circumstances e.g. out of town visitors meant that leaving the child with a babysitter wasn't an option etc etc etc I'm optimistic that some of what he saw and experienced on stage will have lodged in the boy's subconscious and that he will become a fully fledged swan lake lover over the course of time.
  13. If it is the same post i saw it was along the lines of ā€œhappy to be in the studio with Akane Takada rehearsing for Swan Lakeā€ or words to that effect.
  14. A more favourable reaction than that of the boy sitting below my standing place who was yawning audibly during the black swan pdd. We have the advantage of knowing that what is happening is special to the plot, first-timers donā€™t necessarily know. Almost 3 hours to get to the climax is a long wait for children of all ages especially if they are disengaged and have no idea what is going to happen nor when (or if this is ever ever going to end!!).
  15. If you donā€™t get a taker on here, you can return it via email to the box office as a donation for resale. Iā€™ve done this before and itā€™s better than leaving an empty seat.
  16. I was just trying to explain what I agree is an imperfect system. I found it infuriating until I understood what is happening. The Donmar Warehouse has a very simple message on its website that I have suggested more than once could be adopted.
  17. As mentioned, this issue has been extensively discussed elsewhere on the forum. In case you missed/canā€™t find the discussion, in brief: Taking for example, 14th June Swan Lake: 31 tickets ARE available to purchase so the website is showing correct information. If you click on the seating plan and there are no seats showing, then it means that these available tickets are NOT currently available to YOU to purchase. However, they may be released at a later date if they remain unsold to the groups for whom they have currently been ā€˜set asideā€™ e.g. YROH, Access, RBS. Itā€™s like a reef or shipwreck that is only visible at low tide. These ā€˜set asideā€™ seats are always there but only come to oneā€™s notice once the rest of the house is sold out and they have not.
  18. Itā€™s the first screen that pops up when i click on ā€˜Whatā€™s Onā€™. Been there for long enough for me not to think of it as new. 2018 version is the original cast recording inc NuƱez/Muntagirov/Campbell/Gartside so a potentially large audience. 2022 version is also available to stream to subscribers. Iā€™m not aware of any other recording.
  19. it seems that there is another alternative. To rent Swan Lake 2018 for 3 days rather then subscribe. Not sure if itā€™s the same price or different as Iā€™m already subscribed. SWAN LAKE (2018) RENT FOR THREE DAYS Rent this performance for Ā£7.99 or subscribe to Royal Opera House stream to watch all our ballets, operas and episodes.
  20. If you donā€™t want to take out a subscription, you can currently pay a one-off Ā£7.99 to stream the 2018 version of Swan Lake. ONLINE ONLY BALLET AND DANCE STREAM SWAN LAKE (2018) RENT FOR THREE DAYS Unable to get tickets for Swan Lake on our Main Stage? Rent now for Ā£7.99 or subscribe to Royal Opera House Stream to watch more ballets, operas and episodes. Rent for Ā£7.99
  21. There is no need for you to ā€˜SHOUTā€™ at me in capital letters. I am merely reporting what was said in Birmingham on Thursday night. And, if you read what I wrote youā€™d see that I didnā€™t say that it is ā€œa ā€˜Black Swanā€™ PDD!ā€ , I wrote that it has commonly become known as the black swan. Again I am merely reporting what was said on Thursday evening. Personally I donā€™t give a fig if it was blue, rainbow, pink or gold when it was danced in an era long before I was conceived or at what point black became commonplace. Perhaps in a new version it will be scarlet with polka dots.
  22. To add to what Iā€™ve already written above, conductor Paul Murphy, IIRC, in his introduction to the ā€œBlackā€ Swan pas de deux said that the piece of music used was originally in Act 1. The original character was Von Rothbartā€™s daughter, a sorceress in her own right, directed by him to cast a spell on Siegfried. And, that the costume/tutu was blue until the 1920s when a ballerina wore black after which it commonly became known as the black swan.
