  1. On Friday we were at the extreme right side front of the Stalls Circle (A97 & 98) and even from there we could still see Fumi's lovely procession in full from the bottom of the stairs to the front of the stage, although her earlier passage down the stairs was somewhat obscured. The onlookers bow down/ curtsey as she progresses, which must help from some viewpoints. Not much of the fireplace to be seen from those seats, otherwise we could see virtually everything including the starlights on the arches, and those are great seats for being close to the dancers....Fumi and Will were just magical together, as they have been in previous productions e.g. R&J and SB. I am particularly impressed with how Will is growing as a Principal...here putting a lot of characterisation into what could be a fairly anodyne role. A great partnership is being forged! I would like to put in a word of praise for Mica Bradbury's Summer Fairy....on what I think was her debut. She really conveyed the sense of a hot, languid, Summer's day and to me looked very confident in the role. She also impressed me in the SB Insight the other night. Hopefully a Soloist in the making?
  2. Wishing Akane Takada a very Happy Birthday today, in advance of her very welcome return to the stage on Saturday as Cinderella.
  3. Thanks Dave. More details of participants here... https://www.roh.org.uk/tickets-and-events/40/insights-the-royal-ballet-in-rehearsal/cast-list/52595
  4. Whilst certainly not the (over-exaggeratedly?) bent crone see in earlier iterations, I wouldn't describe the current portrayal as "glamorous". Certainly mysterious and with magical potential though, and I think there is now a fuller dimension to the role which works well.
  5. Lovely to meet you Sim and those other Forum members..also great to meet @JohnS again. What a great night!
  6. I find the ROH booking system excellent compared to others....in particular: queuing ( in my experience at least) is minimal; you can choose you seats with views shown of, and from, each; you usually have good advance information about the casting; payment arrangements are smooth; e-tickets generally arrive within minutes; you can cancel any booking in return for a credit note.
  7. Our local cinema looks pretty full for this evening ...about 250 seats sold at a rough guess - probably about 5 times as many as were at the Diamond Celebration screening.
  8. The joke, the wig, or both? I am sorry to be missing these two this run - hoping for a fairly early return of Cinderella to remedy this.
  9. Sorry, rather confused....aren't Autumn and the FG on together in Act 2? So who was the FG?
  10. I am sure no spoil-sports would mind if I tried out a few of my own ballet moves in the aisle, to help Cinderella along later this week...đŸ¤£
  11. Apologies, yes that's right - the disc version is a 2014 cast, not 2018.
  12. The Winter's Tale (2018) is also available on DVD/ Blu-ray.
  13. Not only that, but they advertise that the full 2005 Fille is available to watch on Streaming. As it is plainly deemed acceptable to watch in that way, there is clearly no issues of social or cultural sensitivity to prevent it returning live!
  14. Sorry to note a cast change announcement by NBS that due to injury Cesar Corrales won't be performing in the RB Japan tour this Summer. Alex Campbell replaces him as Romeo.
  15. On a not wholly unrelated point (indeed a good example re. the above), RB Aud Jebsen dancer Ava May Llewellyn has just announced that she is now an Artist with the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Best wishes to her in her future career!
  16. Both Muntagirov and Campbell trained at the Royal Ballet School so in a sense they returned to where they graduated. Nothing particularly objectionable in that. There is no "bribery" involved - just companies and dancers agreeing what is mutually in their best interests.
  17. I am sure you are correct on this @Lizbie1 ...there were cameras on Wednesday (5th April) and I can't imagine any change is possible before filming on the 12th. Continuity for editing scene choices would be particularly important for a later DVD. I think we can only hope for sufficient complaints to bring about a change later on (ideally still within the current run).
  18. It seems that this problem extends well beyond the "to be expected" restricted views from certain seats or standing positions. It is pretty serious and frustrating for those in the "wrong" place, and I have also contacted the ROH to ask if it can be rectified. Perhaps if enough others on the Forum did the same, we might influence the powers that be?
