  1. Hi there I stumbled across the adult Ballet Retreat FB page by chance and it looks lovely. Has anyone on here been ?
  2. Hi there We have paid and applied for Wimbledon audition in Feb but not received an acknowledgement. Has anyone else or am I being impatient ? :-)
  3. Hi there My DD did the summer ballet last year and yes it's 2 full weeks of rehearsals and then the following weekend is the tech/dress and show weekend in theatre Thur-Sat. Last year rehearsals were Wed-Sun but this years summer rehearsals are Mon-Fri. So yes, you would be knocking two full weeks and then a long weekend out :-)
  4. Interesting questions as my DD is in a similar position in that she can only take 1 lesson a week at her dance school but they only organise exams are every other year. She is just about to take grade 2 at age 10 and was in grade 1 for 2.5 years waiting for the school to organise exams. I wondered if, with exams only organised every other year, she will get through all the grades. And, if she can only do 1 class a week will she need 2 years to prepare? If your daughter is a JA then she must be talented and is doing more than 1 class a week so will progress more than the other girls at your local school so I agree you should ask the opinion of her teachers at the school and at JAs? It is really tricky with some small, local schools if you have a DD that wants to do more ballet. I am unsure what to do about my situation as we love our dance school, but want more ballet?
  5. Well done to your DD LittleDancer :-) I saw the Friends dancing en pointe at the casting and they looked lovely.
  6. Thank you
  7. LCB looks lovely. Is it harder to get into than EYB, I would imagine so with 3 levels of audition and what with it being free. Are rehearsals at weekends ?
  8. Thanks Twinkle Toes DD is 10 next week and tall. She is not en pointe. She looked at EYB rehearsal videos on FB and liked the look of the Friends dance but they were not en pointe. maybe she got it wrong and they were not Friends haha ! Never mind, I am sure she will be delighted with any part and I am pleasantly surprised she got through the audition :-)
  9. Those parts sound gorgeous and DD would not be disappointed with those :-)
  10. Well actually thats amazing then as a character part plus a tutu part - win win. Thank you :-)
  11. Ahhh, how horrible that "shorty" parts are not considered as good as the rest by some people. I was reading a post about this elsewhere in the forum and just can't see why the parts for smaller girls are any different to any other part? DD is quite tall for her age and as mentioned above I am preparing her so she is not disappointed if she is a monster haha. I think every little girl wants a tutu but we know that doesn't always happen :-)
  12. Hi there No it deffo wan't the scholarship group. Those selected for that were great and it was all explained. DD was not part of the scholarship group :-) After the general class in rows they got each row to do a dance together. Then everyone say down and they called certain numbers and groups up. DDs line was called up but one girl taken out and a girl from another line put in and they did the dance together again with the new girl and they danced really lovely together and were similar heights. There was a little bit of this going and I am guessing they will do similar at the casting?
  13. Thank you. Even at the audition you could see they were being grouped, DD was put in a group of 5 or 6. One girl was taken out and another put in her place and they were made to repeat a dance together and looked really good and all the same height so you could see she had something in mind for them as a group.
  14. Thank you, can parents take photos when the do the press shoot ie when they are all in their EYB t-shirts? DD is hoping to be one of Aurora's little friends but I am prepping her as convinced she is going to be a monster Krs
  15. I wonder if anyone can let me know what happens at the EYB casting day. I have read the other threads and can't find the answer to my specific question so thought I would start a new one I hope that is OK? DD got through the audition which I watched along with the other parents. The casting takes longer than the audition and runs from 4pm-8pm and I wondered if parents are expected to stay during that time to watch the proceedings or whether the expectation is that parents drop dancer off and then leave? Thank you
  16. DD's rehearsals are all through August so no school to worry about and license only required if there has been licensed performances by the child on more than 3 days in preceding 6 months.
  17. Confuddled, Dartford is not hard to get to from Central London either and rehearsals are in Sidcup...
  18. HI @annaliesey My DD is doing Dartford. Good luck
  19. Thanks for your help one and all. DD got through Junior audition today and is accepting her place.
  20. Ah yes, I can envision it. How exciting !
  21. Thanks everyone for your comments really appreciate your replies. Some good tips there to pass on to my daughter, she is looking forward to the audition experience. It does sound daunting with 100 dancers on the stage, I am just nervous for her :-)
  22. Thanks everyone, it's good to know all levels are considered. I've picked up from the threads they want dancers that look like they enjoy to dance. She is happy enough to go with the flow, I just feel nervous for her but am hiding that well. How lovely about your daughter Pointetoes and her dream part :-)
