  1. This was originally advertised as being for boys aged 9-15. Any idea why it's changed? My 12 year old DS was signed up and will be so disappointed!
  2. Thank you for more wise and reassuring words (this really is such a lovely supportive site ) I think we'll see what a Royal JA experience day brings and decide the next step from there. She loves everything about Elmhurst associates, but that's without knowing much about at all about Royal other than the one audition experience. I know her teacher is very proud of her and they have a lovely relationship, but for some reason - hopefully just an oversight - this particular success hasn't been highlighted publicly.
  3. Thanks for all the replies. My DD (you assumed correctly Pups_mum!) is currently a year 5 Elmhurst associate and loving every minute of it, but her teacher is strongly encouraging her to audition again for Royal this year (she was unsuccessful last year.) As doing both probably wouldn't be practical and her teacher is aware of this, DD feels (understandably, but not necessarily correctly) that her Elmhurst achievement somehow isn't enough. I do realise that the chances of us having to make any decision are extremely slim, but how it's making her feel at the moment is very sad. Telling her that maybe her teacher just wants her to audition for the experience isn't cutting it! Oh well, I guess it's another lesson in the hard world of dance ...
  4. I know Royal is a far more well known name amongst non dancers and will therefore carry more weight, but for those involved in the dancing world is the RBS JA associate scheme really considered to be "better" or more of an achievement than Elmhurst's? Royal helpfully publish their figures in their annual report so we can see just how small a percentage of applicants actually get places, but does anyone know what the information for Elmhurst is? And if a child were lucky enough to be offered a place on both schemes, but accepting only one was practical, would it be madness to turn down Royal? Sorry for all the questions, but I've been sensing from my child's ballet school recently that Royal achievement is far more worthy of being celebrated, which makes me very sad.
  5. My 9 year old has the purple Bunheads one too which I think is the same as the red Theraband one.
  6. I have the same issue with Grade 2, purchased in August. I didn't report it although probably should!
  7. Had an email from Elmhurst this morning requesting that associates don't wear these type of warm up booties "on Elmhurst premises, or any other venue" ... not sure why, but thought it may be of interest to some of you.
  8. This thread is almost making me cry even though my DD is only 9, with no idea yet of where life will take her! The photo on Elmhurst's FB page this morning of the new year 7 group made me feel all warm and fuzzy Good luck to all the dancers starting in new schools and special thoughts to the lonely parents.
  9. I just love everything about this man's story. Thanks for sharing Janet.
  10. We're new too and also year 5, but in Manchester. The email I got today said that uniform has to be purchased from Dancingboutique.com (if you go onto their website you'll find Elmhurst Associates under the uniform section.) Good luck with it all - I haven't a clue what sizes to order!
  11. The information for Manchester came by email this afternoon. Year 5 class is as last year; 11:00-12:30. Now to work out uniform sizing!
  12. Thank you DancingShoes! Not too early a start (DD will be Year 5) if timings are the same this year
  13. I'm sure I'll hear in due course but just wondered if anyone might be able to tell me what the class times for Sept 2015 in Manchester are? Trying to plan ahead and failing miserably! Thanks
  14. Well, finally after a long wait and no letter it's a yes by phone for my DD too! And I really must say, the people at Elmhurst are very lovely
  15. More great news - congratulations! What year groups were these for?
  16. Great result for your student Flowerdew Still no news for my DD.
  17. Aargh, still no letter today! The pessimist in me (or should that be the realist ?) is thinking the the offer letters were sent 1st class and the rejections 2nd! Any news from Manchester? Half tempted to phone them, but will resist ...
  18. Lovely news Busymum - you and your DS must be thrilled! Was that for Birmingham? Postman has already been but no news for us today.
  19. Just wondering if anybody has had any results news yet? (This is my first time posting here so whispering a shy hello!)
