  4. I have heard mention of a London audition 31st of this month. don't hold me to that though!
  5. hi, my daughter loved the audition, she had been there in the summer and was completely besotted so felt very comfortable going in. there were two girls from the school there ( a first year and a 3rd year) to help with the class. She had met one of them before so they had the chance catch up. These girls helped throughout the audition. the class was simple and of an easy level according to my daughter as the wanted to see clean technique but everyone came out exhausted! there was barre and stretch at barre, adage, flexibility and grand allegro also pointe. there were fifteen at the audition on boy, 14 girls. everyone was very friendly. afterward there was a talk from ms livingstone and a sort of Q&A. we were told the results would be out before xmas if possible but have not yet heard. overall my dd said that even if she didn't get in she would not be as disappointed as she may be as she loved her time there and really tried as hard as she could. the finals were described to us and sound much much harder! it is all day with contemporary and possibly some sort of choreo aspect. there will also be a interview and physio. no interview for the prelim. a good mix of vocational students, associates and local dancers.
  6. I have my fingers crossed for all of us! I don't understand how my DD is so calm and patient i just want to know hahah! If I have not heard by the first few weeks in January I may phone them. May I ask interestedparent was your daughter offered a recall.

I'm getting really anxious! Twiggy
  14. The idea of not having to do alevel classes after dance definitely appeals. The molly lake competitors from tring danced beautifully maybe tring deserves a huge boost to its classical reputation! Both are good schools but like was said before its where the dancer feels the best xx
  15. Thank you all so much x I took some more today and will take more tomorrow and found that if I just think about it as a photoshoot and not an assessment I'm much happier hahah your tips were all brilliant thanks again Twiggy

  18. I am completely freaking out at the prospect of upcoming upper school audition and photos are not making it any better! I took some photos after class last week but i was exhausted and we only had about 20 minutes, needless to say we managed a decent arabesque and the others were abysmal! i am really struggling with them! the worst i feel in the devloppe picture. off camera i can manage a pretty decent devloppe but as soon as the camera is on down goes the leg up comes the hip and my face looks like i'm going to burst into tears! do you guys have any advice on taking pictures especially the dreaded devloppe! i need to get my act together soon or i wont be able to send an application in time! the pictures i have to have for all auditions are: arabesque devloppe in sec tendu plie in 1ST and 2ND side back front full views 4th en pointe 2nd en pointe tendu efface sorry about the ramble and stress! all help appreciated xxx Twiggy
  19. Hi I go to northern and will also be at the summer school and would be happy to talk to her so she knows someone before we start
  20. I'm starting at rcs ballet summer school tomorrow and don't know anyone else. I was just wondering if anyone else is going to be there? xx
  21. I like the lion bun nets and the bun heads ones xx
  22. My teacher calls them running glissades as well It's a normal glissades step that travels further turning into more of a linking step. It is usually used in the sequence- coupe chasse glissade grand jete Hope this helped xxx
  23. I had a problem similar to this. I have just been a accepted into yorkshire young dancers CAT programme at NSCD but sadly turned it down as it would mean having to stop a lot of ballet. I also am auditioning for schools (post 16) next year and so I feel I need to stick with my classical training especially as going to NSCD would mean me giving up my place at northern ballet. I was gutted as I felt like I had just lost a massive opportunity but hopefully it will be the right decision :/ I wish there was a CAT programme that was both ballet and contemporary equally. Surly this would help prepare young dancers for auditions as more and more vocational schools are calling for ballet AND contemporary.
