    Housework hates!

Oh, Alison, what a yucky task! I have to joy of vacuuming and dusting upstairs today, plus going to infernal Tescos. Dance lesson tonight, though
  2. It's tomorrow, Julie, but I can't wait. I've done a very little practice and gone walking and was jazz dancing to "Chicago" this morning. Not easy with an iron in one hand!

    Housework hates!

Dance mums, I know many of us work, or don't work and function as taxis for our dear DDs/DS's. What is your pet housework hate? Mine is ironing. It takes ages and it rarely looks as well ironed as I would like to, not to speak of having to put it all away afterwards! If you vacuum, or clean the sinks, as least there's a visible result! I decided I would listen to CDs of musicals in future while I did it. I listened to the "Chicago" soundtrack today and danced like a demented fury while it was on. I hope I've lost some weight during the one and half hours it took!
  4. How childish of the dancer you mention, Aurora. My Ex DDs did shows with their dance school and danced what they were told to dance. That said, when they were both in the chorus of "Joseph" at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, my youngest was one of the children gathered around the narrator at one point. So was the stage school's owner's daughter, and the tantrum she had the next year when told that other, younger children were going to be used!
  5. Oh. I thought he seemed shorter than that when I saw him.
  6. The girl in red and the first dancer in the second video both have amazing extensions! I wonder if it is the same girl.
  7. Porthesia, come closer and I'll whisper so the other don't hear - my thighs were still sore on Saturday. I was shocked by how unfit I am. I dragged myself out for a walk yesterday as I am determined to to do a 5km rum for breast cancer charity either this autumn or next, having been inspired by the Marathon yesterday, as my dear Mum has it ( she seems to holding her own, thank goodness) and it killed her mother when Mum was only ten. I will post more if people want me to, but I don't want to bore people.
  8. I'm afraid I don't know - teens?
  9. Ah! My daughter went to the Aileen Graham School for a while and she has a sub-branch here.
  10. My daughter now needs photos for drama drama agents - ho, hum, more money
  11. I can see what you mean, but the skill!
  12. This was posted by the superb Johann Kobborg on Facebook and I thought you would all like to see it. It is the training for the National Folk Dance of China team :-
  13. I still hurt! it just shows how unfit I am. Still, did boring ironing to "The Yeoman of The Guard" and it was great for doing tendus to and bopping around to!

    I'm so sorry, C4D.xxx
  15. I put on an inch at 21 and ended up at 5'4" having been tiny and painfully thin as a teen. Both of my daughters grew late, too.
  16. I cannot do tap to save my life. it is the exact opposite of ballet, but you pull up and in. With tap, you are suppose to have loose ankles etc - I just can't. My body just screams "No!"
  17. Two words for you, Lottie - Ivan Putrov! Unless your DS wants to be a danseur noble (and he may well grow anyway), there is a lot he can achieve in the ballet world!
  18. I seem to have lost 3 lbs overnight! Whoopee! My inner thighs are killing killing me though!
  19. My youngest used to dance with a talented boy whose father insisted all calling it "Music and Movement" and made him give up when he was 9. What a waste and what a homophobe!
  20. Ah yes, tap! I'm enough to make cats laugh when I try to do that! I have friends that love it, but I cannot do it, for the life of me!
  21. Oooh, that was hard! So much fun though! My turnout, demi pointe and core strength are lamentable, but I know they will come back. I kept up. The nicest thing of all was that she told somebody else and me that we could get soft blocks in preparation for pointe. This was right at the start of the class and I knew I wasn't ready, so I spoke to her at the end and said I wanted to wait. She agreed, but said that in 2 or 3 terms I would be ready, and that if Judith and I really wanted to learn pointe, she would do an extra class for us! I'm flying!
  22. We have only had adult classes recently. I used to have a long drive if I went before and it didn't seem worth and hour and half's drive to and back for an hour's class. I once dreamed I was on stage at the ROH sing in Donizetti's "L'Elise D'Amour". I can't sing, don't know the words and don't like opera! I don't what I was so stressed about, either! I am now changed and waiting to eat and dying of nerves!
  23. Guess who didn't sleep last night? I did a bit this morning , though, so the ironing can wait (the goodness for steam irons!) because I am going to go if it kills me (and it probably will!).
  24. I love you, Anjuli!
