  1. Swimming was torture, says the woman who lived in the pool during her teens! I am so unfit! I'd rather do 2 hours of baller class any time!
  2. Aren't we a talented lot!
  3. Wow! Lots of similarities and several dis-similarities! I have just bought some plants in the hope that I can make some hanging baskets, but I always over-water. I am about to do something I don't like, which is sewing, to mend the bedding our old now dead dog chewed up.
  4. Oh yes, chocolate is a must have!
  5. Since we have had such fun moaning about what we don't like, let's talk about what we do like! Watching ballet or dancing are a given, you have to talk about different things! I love to read and have recently re-discovered my love of writing. I love my animals and history - to read or places to visit. I love France and Majorca ( the countryside and its past, not the beaches). I read true crime. Now it's your turn.
  6. I hope all those have the hall on the first Wednesday really enjoy themselves this evening, she said bitterly.
  7. I haven't got it this week. I'm going swimming with my eldest, but we will probably end up having to swim to the pool

    Housework hates!

Eww, Gingerbread! I was doing yet more ironing (world without end!) and listening to "A Chorus Line". If you don't know the story, it is about all the "gypsies" who audition for dance parts in musicals. They tell their stories and this composes most of the musical. I was thinking, we send our children to dance classes either for fun or exercise, and maybe hope that they will be a future star. My daughters were both in the national tour (although only in one part) or Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. On the Saturday night, I saw all the very good dancers packing up and calling, "See you on Monday in Norwich". It was pandemonium, and they were running hell for leather for the train. Would we still do it if we knew our beloved DK's would end up in cold and damp rooms , with sporadic meals and crummy dressing rooms? The musical really brought this home to me.
  9. I was told the same thing by the pianist who worked sometimes at my school. She said she knew I was a dancer and that I was good. If I'd ever received the least encouragement from the school, I would never have stopped.
  10. My DDs's teacher said the same thing, Fonteyn 22.
  11. Good for you, Claire!
  12. Oh, Julie, how absolutely lovely. You must have been so proud of him
  13. The OU is very expensive! My daughter found out it was cost her £600 to do a Shakespeare unit and this was a few years ago now!
  14. I think we both posted at the same time yesterday, Anjuli. I did not see your post before I sent mine

    Housework hates!

I have just spent several very hot minutes scrubbing out the utility room where the dogs sleep as our poor black labrador Amy is is being neutered on Tuesday. I've disinfected it and will re-do it on Tuesday before she comes home
  16. Eldest ex-DD was left handed, left eyed and left footed and found ballet really difficult. The youngest is right handed and loved it and had no problems with it.
  17. Do you want to do A levels, LB? It seems very short-sighted of the Rambert to refuse to do them. After all, sadly, dance careers may not work out for many reasons.
  18. Our school never allowed my DD's to miss P.E and yet for endurance they wiped the floor with most of the others. Both loved swimming and trampolining and my youngest liked hockey, too. Talking of ballet, I just jeted over something to avoid knocking it over!

Yes, this one wins hands down!
  20. LOL, Taxi! I'm not even stiff this week, which is great.
  21. Is that where you live, Taxi? I live in the small town between Ware and Royston.
  22. I had a lovely class last night! My balance was an awful lot better, but oh, I miss my turnout (used to be 180 degrees) and the less said of my plies the better! I asked about an additional class. Christina was open to the idea but since our class is so small, she wasn't sure and that one class is plenty for the moment. Unfortunately there isn't a class next week as somebody else has the church hall on the first Wednesday in the month, so I will be going swimming instead.
  23. Oh no! I saw them do Swan Lake there some years ago now and it was lovely!
