  3. Where do I swipe in and out? The same as where you insert the travelcards? Also, if I am changing at a station does it just count as the 1 journey? E.g kings cross to Oxford circus and change there to Hyde park area would count as 1 or 2 journeys??x

  5. Hi I often go to London for the day but this time I am going for the weekend and want to find out the cheapest way to travel. I will be getting the tube on Saturday from London kings cross to Hyde park. Then from Hyde park to Oxford street and back again. On the Sunday I don't anticipate using public transport, however, if the weather is bad I may get a bus. Then on the Monday I will be getting the tube from Hyde park to kings cross, so just the one journey that day. Hoping someone can help. Thanks in advance.xx

  13. We went last November and it was Elliot Clarke
  14. Anyone who didn't see Sky 1 on Saturday night. Peter and Shannon Parker, under the name of Bitter Harvest, performed ballet and are through to tonights live semi-final. Peter and Shannon are part of OPES, directors and teachers of midlands associates and ex-professional ballet dancers. Beautiful performance. You can still see it on sky catch up and on youtube.
  15. As generous as the 30% is, it is still out of our reach I'm afraid.
  16. Musical theatre. Although she has a lovely figure, she doesn't have a ballerinas physique. Dd would love to go away full time to be with like minded children. Unfortunately, like most parents we can't afford it. She does however have excellent local training. smallbythesea
  17. Am I right in thinking that the mds is for classical dancers? Dd auditioned in 2012/13 for a year 7 place starting sept 2013 and received a letter saying she was more suited to musical theatre for which they offered her a place but no funding. She has mentioned she would like to audition again this autumn for a year 9 place but looking at the mds information it would suggest they are only offered to classical dancers. Are they looking for a ballet physique and a ballet dancer? Or do they take all round dancers who still have solid ballet training? TIA smallbythesea
  18. It was a no for dd We have one upset little girl, but she'll come round
  19. Justamum- I've already asked if she can sing without music & it's a definite no. Karen- bless your dd, it would be lovely if she does that, that's very thoughtful of her. Thanks everyone for the good wishes, she is really looking forward to the day. She is one of the lucky ones who gets a nervous excitement before auditions/performances which is then transferred positively into her dancing. smallbythesea x
  20. Audition is on 4th March. I'm so hoping for her. She got a yes at Tring but for theatre arts & no funding. Like many of the children on here, she just loves to dance. It would be a dream come true for her, shes's wanted to go to dance school since she was 7.
  21. Hi Guys Thanks for the responses. It wouldn't have been dd first choice either. She went in for her private lesson with 4 songs & came out with that one as her dance&musical theatre teacher said it suited her voice. I must admit she does sound lovely singing it. I have ordered the sheet music & borrowed a keyboard,so we have just under 2 weeks to practice. eek! School cant help as they have a lot of shows&competitions on. I'm unable to download from internet as printer is currently broke! So music shop are going to do it for me. At the end of the day,its a dance audition,I will practice with her & the letter does say the vocal solo has no bearing on the result of the audition & no prep required, but obviously the more prepared she is,the more comfortable she will feel. It is the last part of the audition day thankfully. Apparently, when she last auditioned, they loved her choice of song. Apparently the musical theatre teacher there had choreographed the musical.I suppose its different if nothing else. I have a feeling my dd is auditioning for the same school as your dd last year charlie4dancin.xx Hope she gets better soon.x smallbythesea
  22. just arrived by barry manilow. i am trying to order it from the local music shop.x
  23. dd had an audition at a dance school where she sang but along to a instrumental cd.this was optional.she has another audition coming up and the solo vocal is compulsory BUT with sheet music.i can order the sheet music but they need to know what key it's in.I've asked her dance/musical theatre teacher and she oesnt know.do you hink the key will be the same as the recording of the musical? she's never sang with a pianist so shes a bit nervous.i used to play piano but havent touched one for 19 years.might try and borrow a keyboard and let her practice, even if it's only to the melody.i have rang the school and its not an option to sing without music or with a cd.the audition letter says no preparation required!?!
