  1. I thoroughly enjoyed last night's live relay. Vadim was so good in 2 Pigeons & I was very impressed with Fumi's gypsy girl. As for Steven, what can I say? Amazing, so fast, I don't know how he did it! But, I am with Sim regarding Darcey. Not only did she mangle Vadim's name she also muddled the words even though she was obviously reading from an autocue. And the gushing, winds me up every time! However she was much better when interviewing Cuthbertson & Collier.
  2. I can only endorse the comments by Don Q Fan & Mab! Wonderful way to spend a dreary January afternoon. Beautiful costumes too! Brooklyn's jumps were really spectacular. Susan
  3. Yesterday I cancelled my regular order for the Dancing Times at my local newsagent. I cannot believe it having read it for over 30 years! I really dislike the new format & don't want to read about ballroom dancing at the expense of ballet. Susan
  4. I am an avid reader of this forum but I don't post my thoughts very often. It is because, as Sim said, I do not want to be subjected to ridicule or sarcasm. Well said Sim. Susan
  5. I have, Dave! We shall see & I do hope they take my comments on board & we see some improvements.
  6. Re my post above, I went to the screening of Giselle at Cineworld at 4 pm & all was going well until towards the end of the first act.....suddenly a lot of people started piling in causing a huge distraction!I guess these were the people who had booked earlier & believed the ballet started at 5 pm. My friend & I were furious & I have emailed Cineworld to vent my disgust. They also forgot to turn the lights out after the ballet started. I despair! Susan.
  7. I have just looked on Cineworld's website & it is now showing that Giselle is starting at 4pm! Thank you all for your comments. Susan
  8. Thank you, Beryl. These timings are very confusing. I have tried emailing Cineworld but they never reply..... Susan
  9. You balletomanes on this forum are so helpful, I wonder if you can help me again? I am looking to book the Bolshoi's Giselle on Sunday. I have the choice of 2 cinemas. One says the start time is 4pm but Cineworld says it is 5pm! Picturehouses also says 4pm. Does anyone have any idea of the correct time please. I favour Cineworld as it is cheaper & very close to the train station but I don't want to arrive an hour late.....Also, does anyone know if Sergei is still dancing that performance? Thank you, Susan
  10. I wonder if any of you can help me? I am keen to see the Chinese Peking Opera at Sadler's Wells but the tickets are rather expensive. I cannot sit in the cheaper seats upstairs as I suffer from vertigo. I noticed that there are some restricted seats at the back of the stalls. The information given just says 'height'. Does this mean that the seat is high..... And do you know how much of the stage is visible from these seats? Thanking you in anticipation. Susan
  11. A week on, I still can't believe that Jonathan has gone. What a waste. My thoughts are with his family. Susan
  12. What on earth has poor Matthew done to attract such criticism? He is good looking, a good technician & a reliable partner. I cannot believe some of the comments on this thread.I just hope he doesn't read them! Susan
  13. I was very sad to hear the news too, Jacqueline! Susans
  14. I am also an older person, Lin, so like you, I don't think bad manners are to do with age. Whenever I am at a performance I am conscious of others around me & sit as quiet as a mouse. Incidently , as I left the cinema yesterday I noticed that the same people who had been so rude, had left their empty ice cream cartons on the floor! Says it all really, doesn't it? Susan
  15. I was at the Connaught in Worthing this afternoon for the live showing of the Nutcracker which was spoiled, once again, by the audience's behaviour! The woman behind me was talking very loudly during the overture & I turned around & told her I was trying to listen to the music to which she replied that I was rude........she didn't seem to understand that she was the one being rude. Then, the man next to me started humming along to the music. I was so furious I asked him to stop & he & his wife laughed. To add insult to injury when I wanted to leave my seat in the interval, he ignored my 'excuse me'. They finally got up but I couldn't get back to my seat after the interval as they wouldn't move, so I had to disturb the old lady next to me who had told me she'd recently had an operation & couldn't move easily...... What is the matter with people? Susan
  16. I paid £14.50 for my (senior) ticket at the Connaught theatre in Worthing. I believe the normal price is £16.50 Susan
  17. Don Q is showing at the Connaught Theatre in Worthing which is part of the Picturehouses group!I have my ticket..... Susan
  18. I totally agree,Capybara, I have never been so disappointed! The costumes & set were hideous. Why did the four seasons have their faces painted to match their leotards? Not a good look. I didn't stay for the last act at the matinee although I did enjoy the pas de deux in act 2.I really don't know why the Mariinsky decided that this Cinderella was a fitting end to their tour here. I would much rather have seen the Firebird bill but couldn't because the performances were on weekdays and it is not possible for me to get a train home. Thoroughly enjoyed Swan Lake, Apollo and A Midsummer Night's Dream though. Hope the Mariinsky come back soon without Cinderella. Susan
  19. My ticket was only £10, Alison so yes, the programme is expensive in comparison but I thought they might have cost more!I have to have one though........I could open my own programme shop, LOL Susan
  20. Oh that's not too bad! I thought they might be as much as £15. Thank you, Aileen. Susan
