  1. Which York summer school huddsballet, assembly or seminars? Dd doing seminars..... Sharry01 I would go with your dds gut instinct I have heard both are excellent , my dd loved both auditions but would have been a nightmare too choose I think I would have had to make that decision for her........look at what's easier for you to travel too as its weekly ..... Hope whichever she chooses she enjoys x
  2. Don't be nicking all the tights spanner my dd needs some too thankfully only a couple of pairs lol x
  3. Hi Stardancer Thankyou, she is very excited, she has had a good year so far...also been offered CAT FTP but will have to turn that one down. York Scholars will be Saturday afternoons and Northern Ballet is sunday mornings so she will do both.....and see how it goes. DD isnt doing Northern Summer School but if youre worried about not having any info etc ring them, i am sure they will be able to help x
  4. Regardless of parts i am sure they will all thoroughly enjoy themselves...when DD did coppelia she was a villager, she was initially disappointed that she wouldnt be wearing a tutu but soon forgot about this and enjoyed the whole experience.....in swan lake she was a marinsky again only one costume but with a change of waist ribbon and hairpiece ..... They all appear in at least 2 acts and they get a lot out of the whole experience.....Good Luck to all those doing it and hope they all have fun xx
  5. Its a yes for my DD shes delighted, sorry your DD had a no smallbythesea but dont give up....my DD had lots of nos until this year (shes now 12) i would have given up trying a long time ago but she is determined that this is what she wants to do......i'm just the taxi driver lol xxx
  6. Hope she gets better soon and Good Luck for her Exam, next friday for my DD so i will be making sure she does no sport next week lol xx
  7. Yep me too its the constant driving everywhere, we are very lucky that the 2 schools DD goes to are just 10 minutes either way so its not too bad, but i am already thinking about when she starts Northern in spetember the cost of petrol versus going on the train xx Edited to add i don't even want to think about how much it all costs, fortunately i pay for all of her classes, EYB, Summer School, Show Costume hire etc etc i think if hubby know the real cost he would have a coronary lol x
  8. YBSS for my DD too she went last year and loved it, think DD would like to go to them all but i need a lottery win first
  9. Well done to all those with a Yes All4dancers have sent you a PM xx
  10. ah thankyou spanner, will order one pair and if they fit her fine will get her some more shes just turned 12 so they should be okay if your dd is 13 and still wearing them
  11. so pleased someone posted about tights DD needs several new pairs she has either grown overnight or they have shrunk in the wash does anyone have any idea if we buy Danskin (from all your reccommendations lol) what size i would need to buy DD is approx 5'1 mostly legs !! and as yet has no hips we previously bought capezio and mondor but she was forever pulling them up as they seem to slide off her (she is extremely skinny but is now starting to fill out) was thinking it would be easier to just buy convertibles so we're not looking for particular tights on certain days, thanks
  12. Hi Yes, she is in the 10-12.30 class, she also has a friend whom she met last year whilst doing EYB who is also going to be in that class so 3 we know of so far !! have sent you a P.M
  13. Hi Dancing Daisy My DD is also due to start Northern Associates Sunday Mornings, as yet we have had no correspondence from them so i guess we will probably hear from them soon, will look forward to meeting you as i guess our DD's will be in the same class
  14. Unfortunately Dominic was correct in what he said.... two of the girls did leave because they felt that that they should have been cast a better part, and they had stated that being a swan was basically beneath what they felt they were capable of..... i know this as fact as my DD was also witness to some of the incidents which occured. I do not know why the other girl left but i did advise my DD that whatever part is given you should be happy with (fortunately both times my DD has danced with EYB she has been very happy with her part) however i wanted her to understand that it is about commitement, team work etc.......Aurora is certainly correct in saying that one of the girls possibly had a number of "issues" she has been to 52 dance schools in the North East Including my DD's however none were good enough????? and this came direct from her mothers mouth in the staff room !! I am not sure whether it should have been put in the newsletter i would imagine alot of the parents were aware of the situation but i feel it clouds the success that the show was for all of our children who continued, however understand that EYB were upset over the behaviour of these 3 girls. As to Julieanne dancing with injury, only she knows how bad her injury is and as a prefessional made that judgement as to whether she was able to perform. Hopefully the behaviour of others won't prevent EYB from returning to Newcastle and they did say they had been invited back in 2014 and my DD is looking forward to them coming back whatever part she may get
  15. hmm very interesting topic, my DD is a current year 7 she never complained about P.E in Primary school however since starting secondary she hates it with a passion which is something i find very strange as she loves cycling, running, swimming etc but does not want to do P.E at school although have told her she has no choice (at the present time) but will monitor this over time
  16. Hi Frangapani, must have missed this somehow !!! she is going to the sunday morning class 10-12.30, when does your DD go? x
  17. Hi Alldancers have sent you a P.M My DD also has a yes for YBSS although the letter didnt state which week, she too will be 12 by the time she goes, she loved last year and stayed in touch with some of the people she met, she too is really looking forward to it again
  18. I like the sound of that way.....i can never get my DD's ribbons correct might try that next time and then sew them
  19. My DD thoroughly enjoyed her EYB experience and this is the second time she has done it, she has enjoyed her parts both times and has made lots of friends............... I thought they all danced beautifully the little marinskys were fab (biased of course) they were all fab !! i loved the spanish dance and thought they deserved their mention off Miss Lewis what a performance !! DD is looking forward to them coming back to Newcastle
  20. Hi everyone Emailed EYB its the LEA who don't agree with EYB's policy !! they have said they will sort it and that DD will still be able to perform there will be no problems in that respect (phew) was panicking a little this morning !!! x Edited to Add if anyone wants to know which LEA pm me x
  21. Congratulations Amber4dancin bet shes delighted !!! Congratulations to others who also have MDS well Done !! So Sorry for those who didnt get mds especially C4D hopefully she will move on and focus on whats next EYB might help her take her mind off it for a while ..... her time will come as will the others ..... xxx
  22. Hi amum/cathy i have had a further look on the paperwork sent that needs to be completed and they are asking how many performances etc, i wouldnt have thought that my DD would have needed a license she has only performed in her dance school show for 3 nights in a row last july prior to that it was EYB last march.....think i will email back to clarify it states at the bottom of the email that licences may have to be applied for
  23. Just a quickie for those who are doing EYB in Newcastle check your emails as we have just received an email requesting info urgently which we have to take with us on Tuesday i think it is something to do with licenses, thought i would post on here as i know some people are away so hopefully word will get round x
