  1. Hi Dancing10 DD did the London audition on 15th January i think it was the second lot around 11ish if i remember correctly, they were all current year 7's in that particular audition ........... very proud of DD for gettng a place at Northern Ballet after what seems like a lot of no's from RBS & Elmhurst 2 years running she is over the moon and looking forward to it very much
  2. My DD is 11 nealy 12 and wants to go to vocational school at 16 she currently does Monday - 45 mins IDTA and 45 mins Stretch and Strengthening class Tuesday - 45 Mins IDTA Tap & 45 mins IDTA Ballet Wednesday - nothing Thursday - RAD Grade 5 & 6 (2 hours) Friday - Nothing Saturday - Intermediate Foundation Class 1 hour then she helps with the pre primary class for an hour (her brother started this class) but after a few weeks went to the back of the class put his shoes on and said he'd had enough lol (he's quite happy to dance around the house though !!!!) Sunday - Currently nothing but will start as an associate with Northern Ballet in september and this class will be for 2.5 hours we top this up with EYB and summer schools but i do worry as she gets older if we will be able to keep up with the level of training that she will need to enable her to have a chance of gaining a place at 16 Hope this helps x
  3. DD got her letter today a NO as expected but luckily she wasnt too bothered as she starts with Northern associates in september, so luckily it hasnt affected her too much this time, i think if she hadnt received a yes from Northern she would have been devastated its soo hard for them when theyre so young ...... Good Luck to those still waiting x
  4. Hi i dont really think it should matter too much.... some children may have started dancing a year later and started from the initial grade whereas others may start later and be put into a specific grade which is sometimes why there can be a mixture of ages in the class, my DD is 11 and is currently doing RAD Grade 5, 6 and Intermediate foundation (the grade 6 was as an extra class) bur her teacher has said she can take this exam in November although i understand that the RAD are setting an age limitation on exams but i'm not sure what these are yet, she has been doing IF for around 2 years now as she studied the old syllabus but was too young to take the exam and she has been doing the new syllabus since it commenced last year.... i wouldnt worry too much about it they all progress at different stages too but i would imagine by the time they get to 16 / 18 they will have completed all of the graded work and vocational work.
  5. arrhhh thats typical i let my DD do the london audition for the experience of going to the upper school and made a weekend of it at the same time ..... looks like we'll be waiting another few days.....i'm not expecting a yes for DD for mids as she tried last year too and had a no but if u dont try u will never know......DD can always live in hope for another few days lol...... Congratulations to Swe, Karen, Sugarplumsmum and Amethyst well done to your children, sorry to hear of those with nos just keep plodding on their time will come xx
  6. i would echo what C4D and pupsmum have said, it really is a fantastic opportunity for the children and they all get to dance in at least two acts both the younger ones and the older ones......its fun to do and they learn alot from the experience Good Luck x
  7. Hi c4d yes she's over the moon and I'm very proud of her it's nice to get a yes !! Will see you sat , hope you have good news by then xx
  8. My DD has also been pulled forward for the scholarship twice both the same occasion as Charlie4dancins DD (who beat her to it both times) lol..... however i would disagree when you say that if the level of dance is high then they may be asked to do it, i thought that the level of dance was very high particularly from the 6 pulled forward i think it isnt just about technical ability but about musicality, preciseness, epaulement, the whole package really it probably just depends on the day as to what steps they are given but my DD did say the audition was easy and she was able to do everything she was asked x
  9. Hi Spanner my DD did Yorkshire Seminars last year and has applied again this year they said on the letter that we would be informed by the beginning of May, i would imagine if she is not going to board that there would not be a problem in getting a place on the course for her, i imagine they are limited by accommodation as they use a couple of the blocks from the halls of residence but if she will be staying with yourselves then that shouldnt be an issue. My DD thoroughly enjoyed herself and is hoping she gets a place again this year.
  10. Letters are out for Northern Ballet my DD has a yes so is delighted Good Luck to others waiting and hope its good news xx
  11. Well done to your DD RachaelBallet12 i'm really pleased for her..... congratulations for those others with a yes.
