Thank you for the edit ! Less cotes du rhone I think is required !! I was a little alarmed when this practice was first suggested. But dd tells me a few girls she knows dab a bit on from time to time ! I was hoping to let nature take its course ! Dd has never had a problem with her feet but with the holidays and the amount of swimming she is doing it might be an idea ! Seems strange I found it unnerving as in my job I am constantly rubbing alcohol gel into my hands !! Thank you for the advice x

Can anyone outline the benefits from this practice and also say if there are any long term health risks ?

They wear split sole canvas. Dd either has Sansha or Bloch Zeniths. She prefers the Zeniths. Supplied by the visiting shop ! I hve a ds doing summer school and I don't believe they have stipulated what they wear. He will wear his usuals !

Hi Dancingfeet ! We brought dd white leather addidas trainers last year ! She says some of the other girls wear canvas ! Saw some plain white converses yesterday so may change to them ! The black ones have never even been on her feet ! The best item we bought was a shoe tidy ! Hangs in the wardrobe and makes her far more organised ! Just a thought !

Oh lucky you ! My husband, his Dad and our boys watched it yesterday and loved it ! I have to wait til Friday ! Just pawing through the program ! Its been a fantastic year ! Dd has loved every minute of it and gained some lovely friends ! See you all on friday xx

The induction day was my husbands first visit to Elmhurst too ! He understood then why dd wanted to go there. Hope you are all staying on for the show ! Its going to be a beautiful day ! X

The current year 7's become guardian angels to the new year 7's and write a letter to them telling them all about the school ! My dd was so excited when she got her letter and her guardian angel has been so lovely and supportive this past year ! They meet them on induction day !

Every sport requires dedication and discipline and to excell in that sport sacrifices have to be made ! We can't be naieve in believing that Andy Murray for example had a normal childhood ! No pain, no gain ! That doesn't include physical chastisment !

Dancing2003 ! My dd did both ! Go for it ! Two fabulous opportunities ! We drive a 420 mile round trip for a ballet class but so worth it ! X

Hi Tutugirl, I have a ds going ! He's 14 in June. Its his first time and has only been doing ballet for 2 years. X

Hi Billyelliott, the mds forms last year were not sent out until the end of June and we still didn't know what we were paying until after the induction day. Its easy enough to calculate an estimate using the scale. I was only about £200 adrift. You pay in 3 installments. Prior to the beginning of each term by bank transfer or cheque. No money required on the induction day. In fact you leave with lots of uniform for free ! The summer show was amazing ! My husband said as we were leaving that it didn't matter what it costs we would pay it ! Feel free to pm me. Happy to help. X

Hi Evie, Saw my dd and I am sure your ds on my visit to the school today ! They are having the time of their lives. It comforts me to know that she is so happy and is with such fantastic children as yours and others on this forum. She wrote in the induction booklet nearly a year ago that she believed she would have 2 families. Her home one and her school one. Her wishes came true. Still miss her though ! Xx

It is contageous ! Spreads quickly between siblings and causes extensive damage to ones bank account !

12 girls and 6 or 7 boys ! Last year though it was 13 girls to start with increasing to 14 and 8 boys increasing to 9 ! One boy day student !

Elmhurst have just extended the deadline for applications for their Plymouth Associates. Years 3,4 and 5 all welcome. As part of the program a chance to spend 3 days at Elmhurst. My dd was an associate last year and the workshop would have given her fantastic insight and preparation for vocational training. They are not paying me to say this ! Honest !

When my dd auditioned for RBS ja's for year 6, 22 girls lined up and only 2 were offered places. Dd was luckily one of the 2. If I had known the odds I don't know whether we would have gone through the stress of it all. I have a strong belief in fate ! What will be will be ! And if it doesn't then there is another plan for you !

Do not panic ! My dd could not do the splits ! She was a JA and Elmhurst associate. She is now at vocational school. Its all about potential. Not what they are now but what they could be. Just enjoy the experience x
