amum/Cathy
Just a quick question. Does anyone know where you can buy spare screws for tap shoes please? Ds lost 3, he's suddenly announced - Bloch. Thanks if you can suggest a UK source.
taximom
Might be worth asking Just Ballet as they have tap shoes!
ballettaxi
Hi, DD had this issue a couple of months ago. I couldn't find them anywhere but then decided to try the local cobblers. They were able to source and repair - however they did say they weren't sure how long they'd last. So we bought a new pair to have 'ready in the wings'. The repair lasted about three months so was definitely worthwhile. And bearing in mind that these were well worn Blochs -bought second hand from a friend and then DD wore them for almost 3 years years. So if yours are newer then a repair may last longer. Good luck
TAX1.MUM
I went into a local dance shop last week. They had a bag of spares and kindly gave me two for free!!!
suzysue
I'very just taken a trip to the hardware shop. 70 screws for £1.10, identical to the one that fell out ????
sarahw
Crikey that's a bargain - dance kit is so expensive. ... Maybe you could sell them on ebay renamed as tap shoe screws!! Could cover some of your dance bills!!!
Billyelliott
Did just the same thing as you suzysoo ! Always loosing them !
Harwel
Do you put super glue into the whole before re-applying the screw? It seems to work.
Billyelliott
Yes I do now and sometimes a sliver of toothpick if the hole has widened ! So far that has extended the life till he has out grown the last pair ! - learning new tricks every day !
Pups_mum
I've always just used ordinary B+Q screws which seem to work fine.
amum/Cathy
Thank you all. Brilliant advice. I will buy superglue and screws at B&Q (and pick up some toothpicks somewhere) and try that. Sounds the cheapest option. Ds has always grown out of shoes before we reached this stage before
BankruptMum
B&Q is as good as anywhere - if the hole has worn then as sugged a tooth pick or cocktail stick will help plug it first. My DD is always tightening and loosening her taps, doesnt superglue make them very 'fixed'?
Flit and float
That's what I was thinking....unless you just use a bit to fill up the hole a bit? I've used PVA glue then screwed the screw in, so they're still a bit loose but not likely to fall out.
Harwel
DS doesn't alter his taps so doesn't affect him - but he is only intermediate standard so as he gets to a higher level it may be more of an issue, I don't know.
