Pointe4life Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I am new to pointe work and I wear and ouch pouch.Even though I have this my shoes chafe my pinky toe. Then I saw that bunheads made toe tape.I read reviews and it said how its just masking tape.Is this true or is bunheads toe tape good?
Lifeafterballet Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 My dd had a pink pinky toe and we bought, sorry can't remember the make, but it is a clear silicone / gel like tube that goes over the toe ! Worked brilliantly ! Comes in big toe versions as well !
Guesty Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Yep...it seems like expensive masking tape! I once bought some for my dd and i couldn't see any difference! Although i am not an expert!
twinkletoes Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 you're better off toughening up the feet normally or using surgical spirit where it rubs, its as good as any toe tape out there for the interim 1
All4dancers Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 My dd always uses micropore tape. Inexpensive and seems to do the trick. 2
Anna C Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Bunheads tape is much more like masking tape than I expected. It's quite papery and can actually slip off toes. I'd try Gaynor Minden toe wrap (Just Ballet sells it) or micropore tape, or zinc oxide tape from Boots. 3
Jan McNulty Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Hello Pointe4life and welcome to the forum. We hope to hear more from you. 1
BankruptMum Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 My daughter has never used toe tape but instead I order a real of 'hyper-flex' tape (available in various sizes from Boots which can be cut to fit). Its breathable and soft but provides a barrier against sore patches. It last a long time and useful for general first aid purposes too! 2
Natalma Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 My dd says the bunheads tape is just like masking tape except for the higher price.
Sheila Beelam Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I find a combination of gel toe tips and micropore tape works well and prefer this combination over ouch pouches or similar as this was you can cushion the bits that need it and still feel the floor Re toe tape, I've never been a fan as I find it slips off but I know plenty of dancers who swear by it! GM toe tape is lovely as it is cushioned but there's not much on a roll IMHO At the end of the day it's down to personal preference and trial and error! Sx 1
charlie4dancin Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 My dd used bunhead toe tape in the past but we have found with a very good pointe shoe fitting this time around she no longer needs and tape or lambs wool!!! Cx
