Free books re Ballet

Recommended Posts

32 books on ballet wide variety  , some old and several now out of print. Sadly no longer will have room for them. I want them to go to a good home. Will need to be collected. West Sussex . I don't want any money but am keen for them to go where they will be appreciated as local book dealer said take them to the tip!

If you don't get any takers then do you have any National Trust properties with secondhand bookshops near you who might take them? Last year I got about a dozen ballet books at the secondhand bookshop at one of my local NT properties, so perhaps the NT are more appreciative of older ballet books than your book dealer is.

Oxfam has second hand bookshops. They are mostly in cities, London, York etc but general Oxfam shops will accept books (they all have book shelves) and will often pass on specialist books to the Oxfam bookshops or put them on on-line second hand book sales. My local Oxfam shop has a member of staff who's very knowledgeable about books and will pass specialist books to the York bookshop.

Indeed- or Amnesty bookshop in Brighton- if the books are in reasonable condiiton Amnesty shops will sell online or move them elsewhere where there is a market for them.

My local Amnesty bookshop made a new shelf for my old collection from an old box! and they did all sell in time.

Is there a library near you that might accept them as donations? My late mother was a keen follower of classical music. Although only an amateur player she attended various residential weekends with lectures and had a season ticket to Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. When clearing out her belongings I found a box full of music scores. I couldn't bear to dump them so I enquired at Bournemouth library music department.  They gratefully accepted them. The librarian said any that were good could go on the shelves and others or duplicates were often donated to music students.

Gift them to a ballet school perhaps?

If no charity wants them you can use the ziffit app and you get a little cash for them. World of Books are behind ziffit I think, and are on a mission to stop books being read only once and thrown, they resell at reasonable prices. I buy a lot of 2nd books from wob as there's no p&p! With ziffit you need min. 10 books to box up and then take to a local drop off point for free post to them.
