75th Anniversary of The Red Shoes - re-release and exhibition

Recommended Posts

I'm rather late in catching up with the Links again, but thought this worth noting from last month:

Powell and Pressburger's 'The Red Shoes': Art and Nothing But (theartsdesk.com)

  • The Red Shoes will be screened at the NFT 1 on Sunday, 12 November at 3.30pm and then re-released in cinemas UK-wide from 8 December.
  • A free exhibition at BFI Southbank, The Red Shoes: Beyond the Mirror, runs from 10 November to 7 January, displaying a wealth of material related to the film. Preserved by the BFI National Archive, it includes around 100 previously unseen costume and production designs, treatments, scripts, behind the scenes photographs and posters, and the iconic red ballet shoes.

I’d love to go to this exhibition!

One of my early teachers as an adult when I moved to London and who started just about the very first adult amateur ballet Company certainly in London appears in this film as a dancer with Rambert at the time (when it was classical)

Can't you combine it with something else?  I suspect it may not be that large, from what they say.

Thanks but I don’t live in London and wasn’t planning a trip, I have no nutcrackers or other exhibitions booked. I’m due a trip in January but unfortunately after the exhibition closes on the 7th!
