Jan McNulty
This seems to be about a young girl who dreams of dancing at the Garnier in Paris. Here's a link to the official trailer:
Jan McNulty
It could be a nice holiday treat for dancing youngsters ... or anyone really ... I hope it's on at a cinema near me!
Lisa O`Brien
Cute, but all I could think was, why's she standing and dancing en pointe in her outdoor shoes ? [Cue lots of little girls everywhere who see the film trying to copy her].
Picturesinthefirelight
That was exactly my thought too Lisa.
drdance
Yes that whole pointe in outdoor shoes thing could cause chaos.... but on the other hand, I like a lot of the film's approach, it doesn't make being a ballet dancer look easy (sometimes children and parents see films and then come to class expecting to be superstars within weeks), and it delivers a message that hard work and passion will succeed over nastiness (and a pushy mum?!). Here's hoping it will be good....
Lisa O`Brien
Just seen that Maddie Ziegler from Dance Moms is doing one of the voice over characters in it. Trailer has had lots of views on You Tube.
HAIRBELLES
My cousins dd cannot wait for this film to come out , she was picked for the primary steps programme without ever having had a ballet lesson, she absolutely loves ballet now. I cannot wait until Xmas to treat her to The Nutcracker with my dd .

jmhopton
I was at a performance at the ROH once with a lot of schoolchildren. it was the Kirov doing Jewels and in the interval so many of the girls (mainly secondary school) were trying to dance en pointe in their school shoes while the boys rode up and down the escalators. They were very well behaved during the performance and very loud in their appreciation at the end. it gave a different perspective to the performance and nice to think this might have been their first introduction to live performance, never mind ballet. Would be interesting to know if any of them were enthused to return.
Tatiana
I think it looks really sweet! Although I'm not sure about all the outfits shown in the trailer... why is she wearing denim shorts in 1879?
