Jane S Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I am sad to record the death last week of Judith Percival, well known as a writer and critic under her professional name, Judith Cruickshank. She also posted on ballet.co and on this site as Alymer - her middle name - and her sane and authoritative voice, backed by an immense store of knowledge and experience, will be greatly missed. She had many friends both in and outside the dance world and her death has come as a great shock to us all. 1
Jan McNulty Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I'm so sad to hear this news Jane. Sincere condolences to her family and friends at this sad time. 2
Sim Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this. I was in an 'invitation only' group online and she was in it; always funny and always so knowledgeable. RIP Judith.
Two Pigeons Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 She was definitely one of the better and more rational critics of her time. I am sorry to hear we have lost her.
alison Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Thank you, Jane, for letting us know. I always wondered who Alymer was, since he/she seemed to know such a lot, but never made the connection. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
Jane S Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 In case you don't look at the Links page, there's a nice appreciation of Judith in today's Guardian 1
MAB Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Although not a close friend I remember both Judith and John with affection, both such good dance writers and really nice people.
