thewinelake
As a ballet wallet (so it seems!) I have a vested interest in finding out where are the best places to buy things like ballet tights, shoes and bags. eg. I need to get a Bloch ballet bag this week. Seems that going to Bloch's online shop is OK - with delivery for just under a fiver. Other places seem to charge less for delivery, but more for the bag! I could drop by the shop and pick it up, but for a fiver, it's not really worth it. Good sources for tough (leather?) split-sole shoes also wanted, as the girls are going through the canvas ones very quickly at the moment.
LovetoDance2003
I buy tights online through eBay-Katz have their own eBay site but other sellers are good too for pins, bun nets etc. I do buy shoes online too however getting the size right can be tricky so I find going into a local dance supplier store is better! Good luck
Primaballerina1
Dance wear.co.uk (porselli) is v good
Anna C
We've never bought shoes online. For everything else, if we can't get to the London shops, we have used (in no particular order): Dance Direct Just Ballet Move Dancewear Planet Dance (advise phoning first to check stock levels) Dancing in the Street Bloch online shop Porselli Sansha online
thewinelake
Thanks all - I switched an order to Porselli as they had everything we needed (DanceDirect didn't) so we were able to save on delivery.
thewinelake
So what are the forum favourites in terms of tough split-sole shoes?
Picturesinthefirelight
Whichever ones fit the best in the shop. Dd has to have canvas anyway so never tried leather. I don't know anyobe who wears leather ones.
shygirlsmum
Did likes Bloch pro-arch ballet shoes in leather. They have coped well with 6 hours plus of ballet per week. She has recently switched to canvas shoes, again Bloch ones with mesh in the middle. Edited September 28, 2015 by shygirlsmum
CeliB
grishko performance canvas split soles model 5. DS won't wear anything else. As a boy these are all he wears (phew lucky us no pointe shoes!), he has 2 pairs which he rotates and they last a whole term (and we're talking 25 plus hours a week in them) any other shoes he has tried are lucky to last a month....(he won't wear leather so I can't comment on those though) we almost always buy from porselli but this is mainly because they have the best range of mens stuff... swanprincess
I like Bloch Synchrony in canvas, although they only last for a couple of months!
Primaballerina1
Dd has very slim feet so we bought Bloch CA stretch canvas shoes from dancia and they have lasted a v long time and fit perfectly! thewinelake
Thanks for the suggestions. I wonder if, like car tyres, ones mileage may vary! Those Grishkos sound like they may be worth a go. Annoying that I just placed a Porselli order on Monday, but I guess it's important to try them on. Anon2
My dd a fan of Grishko split sole too. 2 or 3 pairs a year for her as mostly pointe or demi pointe shoes.
