  1. Thank you both Spannerandpony and Kat09 They are not something I have ever had to wear before, so this is new! Would you reccomend going to a dance shop and actually trying them on, or can I just order the same size as my flat shoes? Or pointe shoes, for that matter?
  2. Are soft blocks absolutely necessary? Just wondering if that's something I need to buy/get used to wearing before the course starts in autumn. Maybe the information sheet that will be sent to us in June will specify?
  3. I'm still waiting for results as well...was debating emailing them, so thanks Pointytoes22 for taking the first step! Well done for a getting a wait list place, and congrats to afab's DDs as well!
  4. Moneypenny I'm in exactly the same situation... and thank you swanprincess! That's really good to hear...I'm hoping there will still be some spots left!
  5. I think so...mine said priority as well but I didn't know that meant anything different? Anyways it seems a bit strange that they put so many on the priority list, AND the waiting list...surely no more than a few spots might open up? But seeing as how there's so many, I think I will probably just move on and start looking for other summer schools....not planning on holding my breath for a spot here to open up.
  6. I couldn't find anywhere that said what date applications actually need to be in by? Also I'm facing the dilema of the fact that I'm on the RBS summer school (upper) waiting list....so do I chance the 100 pounds for YBSS, assuming I wont get called back for RBS, or wait it out? (I should find out if a spot has opened for RBS by end of april/beginning of may) But I dont want to wait too late! :/
  7. Just got a 'wait list" reply for RBS upper summer school...can't believe there were over 1500 applicants!!! anyways does anyone know the probablility of actually getting a spot from the wait list? ie should I really just give up on it and focus on applications for other summer schools? Any advice/previous experience of the same situation would me much appreciated!!
  8. Thanks so much sophika9899 for putting us out of our misery! Now we know when to expect the letters and I can stop sitting by the door waiting for the post man to arrive each day!
  9. Just got my yes for Birmingham today! So happy it's unreal!
  10. Is there generally a mix of Year 10s and Year 11s in SA? Just wondering if it was more common for a Year 9 (auditioning for year 10 spot) to get a place?
  11. Anyone still waiting on results for an audition in Manchester for RBS SA? Feels like its been ages!
  12. Has anyone done this program before/something like it? Would it be worth looking into?
  13. I'm going too! Thanks for all the info...really helpful!
  14. Has anyone else heard from RBS for SAs? It's been quite a while and just hoping it hasn't gotten lost in the post!
  15. Nope i'm in England! Thanks though...now I know to check the post box and not my email! Some people said Elmhurst SS results come by email?
  16. Best wishes to everyone auditioning!!!! Hope all goes well and eager to hear how they went!
  17. Does anyone know if Associate letters are by post or email? Same for summer school? (Just wondering what to expect...)
  18. Yikes! I thought I was doing a lot, and this makes it seem like I've been doing next to nothing!!! But reading this has given me an extra push to work harder for 6th form auditions...
  19. This sounds great...has anyone ever been to a City Academy workshop like this, and can tell us the standard/what it was like?
  20. that's a lot! i thought they'd only accept maybe 1 or 2 new kids...
  21. congrats to everyone with a yes, and to those with a no, keep on trying! This is just the beginning! xx
  22. Haha yeah... a few years ago my dance school went to see a gala performance... afterwards we were waiting outside where everyone comes out and we got to meet some of the dancers... Paloma Herrera and Alina Cojocaru were the ones I really remember talking to! My teacher had some contacts through the program, and I feel so lucky that we actually met them!
  23. I once met Alina Cojocaru, and she told us this: "Go for it. Just go for it. If it comes from here (points to her heart) , you can achieve absolutely anything." Her words will stay with me for the rest of my life.
  24. This is another one of those summer schools where application dates clash... unfortunately the non-refundable application fee, unless the applicant is unsuccessful, is 100 pounds a week! But the dates clash with those of RBS covent garden...the question is are the chances of getting into RBS so slim that it's better to take the chance and risk losing 100 pounds, just to have a back-up summer school? Sorry if this is unclear, but its a major problem, and I have no idea what to do about it.
