    Too Tall?

Don't worry, my husband is 6.4 and my non dancing son is 6.3 and 19 yrs old. When my DS joined WL we asked if his height would be an issue and we were told that the most successful seniors that year who graduated with the most company offers were both 6.4. I recently met a gorgeous young man who was leaving RBS upper school before graduation to take up a place in The Danish Ballet, he was 6.4.
  2. A BIG WELL DONE to those with WL finals. Its such an exciting time.
  3. yes for Elmhurst finals yr7 for friends ds. WELL DONE.Good Luck for everyone stalking the letterbox shouldnt have to wait much longer.x
  4. Friends son just heard. Elmhurst finals for yr7. BRILLIANT NEWS.
  5. Mvobe , my DS started at WL in September in yr7. Every time I drop him off it seems so wrong driving away and leaving him behind. However this is his dream and as a Mum I have to do every thing I can to support him. He is happy and the mad videos and photos are proof, that hard as it is he is in the very best place for him. WL boys also play football and its lovely too see boys of all different ages playing together. It is however the only match ive seen where the boy in goal was piroetting. Try and relax if its ment to be it will.
  6. atadmin, that seems really unfair. How can anyone make such a big decision when they still havent even auditioned at the other schools. Its hard enough to decide whats best for our dancing children without being held to ransom. Wishing you all the best what ever happens.
  7. Tring refund your deposit provided you let them know that your child will not be taking up the offered place within the time specified.
  8. That's what I thought. I paid the deposit last year £650, and explained that DS needed funding. We turned Trings offer down after DS was offered WL and Elmhurst and our deposit was refunded.I'm sure that you had to let them know 6 wks before the start of term. They had so few MDS places last year. It seemed sad to take 50 children to funding knowing that they only had MDS for 3 of them.
  9. No Suzyzoo you can accept a place and then get your deposit back within a set time frame. Yes DS was a weekly london JA in Miss Hubbards boys only class. 6 out of the 12 yr7 boys at WL came from this class.
  10. DS was invited to Trings funding audition having already accepted a place. We were told that they had seen 650 children. Fifty were invited to funding. At the end of the audition 6 names were called, DS being one of them. We went downstairs for a physio assessment. We were then told that sadly they only had funding for 3 of them.DS didnt get MDS funding. We drove from Tring to a hotel in Richmond, ready for WL finals. DS went on to be offered a MDS place at Elmhurst and WL for yr7. Good Luck Suzyzoo its a mad few months.
  11. It is hard not having him at home and i do miss him something awful. Still have to pinch myself that my little boy is at WL, just 2 and a half yrs after his first ever dance lesson. No one else in the family has ever danced, which makes it even stranger. No idea where the talent comes from. He went from 0 - grade 6 in 18 mths. Won a JA place after just 4 months. Had a wonderful teacher though, who taught him one - one mostly. He also worked so hard, and grins like mad every time we drive through Richmond Park, back to his second home ( his words not mine).
  12. He absolutely loves it. sends text just with ballet class was sooooooooo amazing. When i call in the evening it sounds like they are having a riot.
  13. Clara, I think the best way to cope with the audition rounds is to explain to your DD just how difficullt gaining a vocational place can be, but what fun you'd have together whilst trying. We used the audition days as a treat to spend time together. Nights in hotels, using the pool where possible. Dinner together, free to chat without the usual distractions. Plenty of time to get DS ready before the audition. We had a lovely time together, and DS never seemed stressed. He was eventually offered a place at everywhere we auditioned, Tring , Elmhurst, and WL. He started yr7 at WL in September and I am so glad we got to spend that precious time together. I miss my little ballet boy so much.
  14. My Husband and I are both extremely proud, thanks so much for your kind wishes.
  15. When my DS had to leave his prep school in yr 5, because JA'S ment he couldnt do Sat school, he had a terrible time with bullying in his new Prep school. This stopped immediately after the first sports day, when DS left them standing in all his races. He then proceeded to break the Junior High Jump Record. When the boys asked how come he was so fast, and good at Athletics he replied that if you train for 10-12 hrs a week one-one at Ballet, plus JA's every Sat Athletics were no problem. He never experienced bullying again. When i called the school to tell him that WL, TRING and ELMHURST had offered him a place all the boys cheered. He danced a Ballet solo at The Leavers assembly and received a standing ovation. The school are planning a trip to ROH to see him dance in The Nutcracker.
  16. 6 were from boys weekly class with Miss Hubbard.
  17. Hi tpss, i have sent you a message as I also live in Essex and have a ds starting White Lodge yr7 in Sept
  18. letters are A4 angel with Elmhurst logo, hope you feel better soon.
  19. Elmhurst letters are out, yes for ds. fingers crossed for you all
  20. my son was there for yr7,told by email that there were15 children per 1 MDS place this year and as they invited 45 back for funding the maths say that they only had 3 MDS to offer. Such a shame.
  21. A huge well done Tippytoes and Balletjack looking forward to meeting you in September. Fingers crossed for the poor souls still stalking the postie . xxx
  22. ADELIA SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER HAD SO FEW MDS PLACES. 3 SEEMS SO UNFAIR ESPECIALLY AS THEY INVITED 45 CHILDREN BACK, OUT OF 350.
  23. 45 were at funding audition 6 taken for physio assessment ds included. told that there were 15 children competing for each MDS place after I emailed Adelia .The maths tell me that they only had 3 funded places. Ds very disappointed on Tuesday but delighted when a yes for white lodge come on Wednesday.
  24. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR KIND MESSAGES, THIS FORUM HAS BEEN A LIFE SAVER.
