  1. A long neck. Small head. Niceish arms. Guess my upper body could have been a dancer, shame about the bottom half!
  2. Just my experience with drama, if you do the edexcel exam board it is very hard! There is a lot of writing and theory, as well as a written exam in the second year. Don't know how you feel about that bit, you might love the theory like I did but I just thought I'd mention it. My sisters both auditioned for drama schools, as far as I can tell the drama A level and any other LAMDA exams are pretty much meaningless to them. Everyone gets an audition and it is your performance in that which counts. Most will expect a monologue so maybe private drama lessons would be of more use? Don't know if this is relevant so if you want more information about the whole drama school thing feel free to PM me A BTEC in anything will not rule out drama school as long as you have the right practical skills for the auditions ie. you are at the right level to stand out dancing/acting and this could come from the BTEC or classes outside. Have you considered a BTEC in Performing Arts? My sister did it and it combines dance and drama which might be the best of both Maybe you can continue with dance outside of college, then take drama, english and another subject if you don't like the dance teacher? That would give you the academic grades if you need them in the future then you can still keep up your level of dance for next year? Hope this helps a little bit, good luck with whatever you decide to do
  3. How could I forget it! Even better got to love Under the Sea from the Little Mermaid as well...
  4. I just finished reading 'I am Malala.' It's a biography of her life but it is fascinating in terms of the detail about the history of Afganistan and Pakistan. The struggle for girls to get an education is so sad and her story is truly inspiring.
  5. Just can't wait to be King from the Lion King, it never fails to cheer me up
  6. Let it go from frozen?
  7. Bridge over troubled water - Simon and Garfunkel Smile - Nat King Cole 3 little Birds - Bob Marley Don't know if she will like them but the lyrics are really good and they are classic songs
  8. I love the ballet but even in the afterlife I will never be a jumper...
  9. Had my first class back after 5 weeks and survived! On the whole level subject our class is just adult so the teacher has to cater for beginners to ex nearly pro which must be a challenge. Technique wise I sit in the middle of the class but I wish she wouldn't set too complicated combinations, I can't think fast enough! Also, I miss my cecchetti classes, the class is sort of RAD and it isn't the same. My foot was sore during petite allegro but I landed some consistent double pirouettes so despite a lack of flexibility it was a pretty good class. I wish I was lucky like all of you to be dancing more than once a week...
  10. You sound dedicated and I should probably follow your example and start stretching and working on my strength
  11. Had to search David Wall on youtube, he is lovely, he can be my prince!
  12. The first ballet I saw was ENB Swan Lake in 2012. I was visiting a friend in London and saw the posters so I went in and asked if they had any tickets. As a student I got to sit in the Grand Circle for £15! I remember being completely in awe and smiling the whole time so I must have looked crazy!
  13. Then I think I might have to change mine to Sleeping Beauty, I prefer the music and I think as a final performance something happy might be nicer than the rather depressing story of Giselle. Don't know who to pick as the prince now!
  14. Think of the arabesques in Shades though... I was thinking about Sleeping Beauty because I love the music but the attitudes scared me off, although four princes are even better than one!
  15. I think I would quite like to do the cygnet dance but maybe that's because I've never done it to realise how hard it is. I'm short enough to make a good cygnet!
  16. Surely all these productions need a corps of dancing angels to be swans and peasants...
  17. I finally got an offer for university next year in Belfast, but I want to check before I accept my offer that I will still be able to do ballet there. I have checked the university societies and they have a dance society but it seems very commercial dance based by the fact they have an 'elite team' whatever that is! I was wondering if anyone knew any good places for a 19 year old student in Belfast to take ballet at any level but preferably grade 6 upwards or an adult class. I study Cecchetti ballet at the moment and would prefer this or a russian style but am willing to do RAD if necessary. Just doing my research before I go onto choosing accomodation ect. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help
  18. All these performances are going to need audiences, does that give me an eternity watching perfect ballet?
  19. Do I get pretty feet in my perfect pointe shoes? Not to be vain or anything but archy feet would be nice...
  20. So I can only dance one ok definitely Giselle, at least I get to dance it perfectly. Hmm I guess dance critics have to end up somewhere, maybe they give eternally good reviews to make up for their criticism on earth!
  21. Oh good, I mean doing a pas de deux would be incredible anyway but flexibility is a plus! Much better thank you, wearing heels for my interview didn't help it but I've rested it and done pirouettes in the kitchen so I think it's mended
  22. Giselle Act 1 with Nureyev, The Winter's Tale Act 2 with Eric Underwood (I'm assuming he will be good in the role of my prince!) and Romeo and Juliet Act 3 with Sergei Polunin. One ballet of three different acts, am I allowed that?! Costumes would hide more of my legs and I like the dramatic roles! Although I'm assuming heaven also grants perfect technique and flexibility or The Winter's Tale is out!
  23. Thank you all for your quick replies, it doesn't hurt currently but I'm not going to risk it. It's been a month since my last class and I really want to go but I just realised I need an interview outfit for tomorrow so last minute shopping is forcing me to be sensible! My shoes are normally supportive but I will check, thank you everyone for your help
  24. I'm supposed to have ballet tonight but the inside of my arch is hurting. Normally I would dance anyway but the creaking whispery sound it makes when I move is worrying me... I don't want to do more damage. Is it safe to dance or not? Any advice please!
  25. Just an idea, if she doesn't like the actual graze boxes maybe you could make your own version with her favourite snacks and send it in the same way? My mum did this for my sister at uni and she loved it especially the homemade oero fudge (not healthy but an incredible thing to arrive in the post!) Maybe regular postcards which can then be put on the wall. They would be cheap but still the excitement of post and then decorate the room. Or those recipe cards you can pick up free at the supermarket for inspiration if she's cooking herself? Another idea, stationary, coloured pens, highlighters always come in useful!
