  1. I love dressing up but more often than not I go to ROH in my casual clothes. Mostly because I often have to rush somewhere else afterwards, and also I always go alone so I sometimes don't even feel that I deserve to dress up (especially not when I'm seated high high up). Though there was this one time I went in my loudest pink dress (appropriate length and all) and three elderly ladies came up to me during the break and complemented the dress. Made my day🥰 That being said, last December I promised if I was seeing both Osipova and Lamb in the Ashton mixed bills, I would make a new evening gown for the occasion. Now I have to do it and also have some courage to ask nice strangers if they could take a picture of me in it...sometimes I do wish I had ballet friends.
  2. I really really hope the casting sheets are final (though I know nothing's quite final until the performance). I've been praying to see Osipova in Five Brahms!
  3. Thank you so much for such detailed information!! I am, of course, very pleased that they continue to dance a good range of works (esp. that they are both extraordinary in contemporary pieces). I have important exams myself until 8 April and already have a weekend trip booked for 20 April, not to mention the possible trip in June for the Ashton works, so it would take quite a lot of convincing for me to book an extra trip for 13 April😥 (Who knows - if the casts for the Ashton triple bill don't work for me, I might still book a last minute flight to Danses Concertantes!) Sometimes it does feel that ballet is a major reason for me to want to move back to the UK as soon as possible.
  4. Hello, fellow ballet lover from the continent🤣 I do think ROH is already so much better than many of the other leading ballet companies in terms of website design and the amount of information available. So I'll give them that! It's not my turn to book the tickets yet, but I am eagerly waiting for any news about my preferred dancers (Lamb/Osipova/possibly Takada). For those of us who are flying and staying in London, I imagine the £4 return fee is no problem compared to flight and hotel costs that increase so much in summer
  5. I'll be flying from the Netherlands 😆 It's a two-day commitment I'm willing to make, but June is always so hectic and I'd really like to see my preferred dancers. Anyways, I'm looking forward to 20 February - I assume the dates will be out by then.
  6. I wonder if the casting for the Ashton bills are out (somewhere in the public domain). I would so love to go, because my last experience with an Ashton triple bill was simply a highlight of the year, but guess what, the biennial performance at my own ballet school is also going to be on the 7th...
  7. I'm super happy about Manon and hope to have a good cast with the right timing that fits my schedule. I'm also seeing Manon at POB this June! I'm looking forward to the Ashton bills too. Not sure about Anemoi/The Cellist - I would see them if I had time (and money). Will not be considering: Swan Lake (too soon and not a good version imo) and The Dante Project (I feel that I will appreciate it in the future, but not now).
  8. Thank you! This is not really related to Cinderella but I should write that I was really happy with the accessibility at ROH. I did email beforehand to discuss this, and my feeling is that they are willing to accommodate your needs as long as you are not in the way of other visitors. With the help of ballet adrenaline rush, I could wobble without a crutch for about ten seconds so the easiest solution was to hand my crutch over to the usher and get to my seat whilst using the handrails as support. Then during each interval the usher would bring the crutch to the door where there were a few steps. I was in amphi L48 and G69 - it took a bit courage to sit at G69 because it was one of those steep amphi seats where terrible things could happen if you fell in the wrong direction whilst struggling to get to your seat! My fellow audience members were super SUPER kind, and a crutch seemed to be an excellent conversation starter! There were hilarious jokes made when stage-dooring with a fellow lady on crutches.
  9. I went to see Cinderella on 12 and 16 April. Both were splendid! I feel that Marianela's Cinderella was the kindest and most gentle, whilst Sarah Lamb had that radiance yet slight awkwardness of a teenage girl. Personally I prefer Lamb's version but that's probably just because I love her dancing in general. I really enjoyed the stepsisters (Gary Avis and Luca Acri). They were hilarious and not annoying or mean. I did not like the costumes of the four fairies in Act I, and the choreography did not feel exactly right. But I'm no expert on that. Gosh the ballroom gowns in Act II were dreamy. ROH seems to market this ballet as especially suitable for children (or it might be just that a lot of parents think it's a children's ballet). The ten-year-old me would have been bored, but as an adult I absolutely loved that there was no twist to the ending and they got their happily every after! I flew from the Netherlands three weeks after an ankle operation, on a crutch, to see those performances. I'm so glad I did - they were totally worth the hassle.
  10. Is the 12th April one still available? Am I two seconds too late?
  11. I saw an Ashton triple bill in person for the first time last season (2021/22) and it remains firmly in my top 3 theatre experience!
  12. If I can go to London in 2023/24 season, I'd like to see Serenade and Manon. Is it too specific to ask for Afternoon of a Faun and Daphnis and Chloe? I have a lot of faith for anything Ashton, and I like some pieces by Wheeldon (After the Rain comes to mind). Please no McGregor and no Swan Lake (at least not the Liam Scarlett version). Edit: I saw mentions of Onegin, and yes I'd absolutely love to see it!! Sadly I can only go to London probably twice per season so my hope for a good casting schedule is a lot stronger than that for a good programme, because ultimately I know I'll try to get tickets for whatever they put on.
  13. I was going to return this one to the ticket office today: 7pm performance: Row A Seat 77, Amphitheatre. £30. Edit: oh sorry, I can't read. This is not a SCS, I apologize.
  14. Returning to the box office on Monday if they are not sold.
