Student finance is split into 3. Tuition fees, maintenance loan and maintenance grant. The first 2 are repayable and the grant is means tested and doesn't have to be repaid. The tuition fees are paid directly to the school in question over 3 installments. The loan is paid to the student in 3 installments over the year. The tuition fees and loan are then repaid once the student has paid employment earning over £21,000 per year. It is taken from their wages and is a percentage of their income. I think the debt is written off if not paid off in 30 years. Please correct me if this is not accurate but I writing this from memory. There is a student finance website for all information. There is interest on these loans aswell but as I understand it, it is the cheapest loan you can get unless it is from the Bank of Mum&Dad. The loans are not enough to cover all costs so the difference needs to come from the parents or sometimes the schools will offer bursaries which are means tested.

Does anyone know how the London RBS SA's got on this year with places offered?

Speak to the school in question and they may let you pay over 3 installments similar to how the UK tuition fees are paid.

This year there are a few students staying at Hyelm but this is closing. It depends on whether you want catered or self catering accommodation. Next year quite a few students are staying at Student Castle. This is self-catered but nearer to the school. If you want catered then look at Guy Chester. This is very good value for money but quite a distance from the school. The students arrive at the school for 8am to warm up and at the moment my dd is leaving Hyelm at 7.15am. Student Castle is about 20 minutes away from the school.

I think there were approx 25 girls and 15 boys that started this year.

I'm feeling anxious for you all waiting,even though I'm a year ahead! The stress doesn't ease over the coming weeks as dc's wait to hear if they get in off the waiting lists.

At Central certain books need to be purchased to assist their studies approx £50

I've just remembered another cost- the medical required once place accepted £130

Fees for Elmhurst are boarding fees of £24,894 per year, but I'm not sure if that includes tuition fees? Ballet West £9,000 tuition fees per year ( can be covered by student finance) RCS tuition Scottish/EU students £1820 per year Rest of UK students £9,000 ( can be covered by student finance) The Hammond tuition £16,371 per year ( DaDa for under £70,000 annual income) Tring tuition & boarding fees £30,990 per year , day pupils £20,700 plus accommodation ( DaDa & MDS available) Other costs include medical insurance approx £700 per year, uniform approx £500, accommodation , food and travel. Students in London can travel free on the buses.

Accommodation this year has been £5720 including food but from Sept it will be £8415 not including food! Ouch ????

ENB tuition fees are £17,000 per year. So if you are just under the £70,000 annual income bracket how much do you have to pay towards the tuition fees?

I thought it maybe worthwhile highlighting costs involved for attending an Upper School. Please feel free to add. Central School of Ballet- tuition fees £9000 per year (can be covered by Student Finance)

I've just rechecked the email and because it was the Easter weekend, letters were attached to an email. Sent at 16.42. Perhaps this was an exception?

Check your emails this afternoon today could be the day. Last year the first set of offers were released around this time with 5 days given to accept then the next set were released the following week. Good luck everyone

It would worry me my DD having an open FB account. I can understand sharing your journey and success with friends and family but with the WHOLE world? I do not have a FB account but easily able to find the accounts discussed above. They were interesting but what concerns me someone could easily work out where the girls would be at a weekend or time during the summer. I'm aware of my DD's safety and having such exposure could potentially lead to problems for these girls at such a young age?
