  1. I’m a child of the 80’s and I still enjoy it (but then I liked the Two Ronnies and Les Dawson in drag). Less keen on modern drag acts!
  2. Well that would have made for a very different final act with the Prince marrying one of the Ugly Sisters!
  3. It was very moving I thought to see the King speaking both German and English today (and indeed last night at the banquet). I am sure that those there (and indeed the wider German public) would be very gratified to see him take the trouble to do so.
  4. At least Mark Monahan (of Telegraph fame) will be pleased with tonight's cast 😆
  5. Lovely pics @Rob S. Not sure if I can get over seeing James Hay in a dress (!). Glad to see Liam Boswell getting such a prominent role.
  6. I think I paid for the trip home from Woolf Works on the Tuesday evening where everything went smoothly; managed to catch a train home with two minutes to spare and was home within 80 minutes as opposed to 2.5hrs plus on Friday!
  7. The lengthy intervals do annoy me - I appreciate time is required for set changes etc etc plus of course for the audience to do whatever but two half an hour intervals is a bit too much; perhaps 20 and 25 mins - its not that much shorter but can make all the difference for those travelling further home in the evening. Either that or start earlier! The General overran by ten minutes so finished about 22:25. I knew I wouldn't be able to get to Waterloo for the 22:30 even if it had finished on time. Unfortunately SWR cancelled the fast 23:00 and I had to get the slow stopping train. I'm afraid that rather ruined the evening!
  8. Some more Flickr pics (the costumes aren't nearly as garish on stage as they appear in some of the pics!) https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72177720307081859
  9. Link to tonight‘s cast sheet https://www.roh.org.uk/tickets-and-events/40/cinderella-by-frederick-ashton/cast-list/51593 I’ll be very interested to know people think of tonight’s cast as I am booked for the same cast Saturday evening and need to make a decision whether to go or not; it’s just a stalls circle standing and only really booked to see what the view is like!
  10. Interesting that you should mention Alice - a lot of the hairstyles and costumes made me think of Alice. I presume the two productions don’t share the same designers?
  11. Some pictures from Andrej Uspenski (Dancersdiary) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqUzIJhgVP7/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  12. A very positive feel good review - something sorely needed in a wet and cold day like today 🤣
  13. From Marco Masciari's IG - https://www.instagram.com/stories/marco_masciari_/3067881379860802952/
  14. I noticed that the other day - it gives a (potentially) false impression of poor sales on those days.
  15. The V&A has an excellent collection of posters (not all of the search results relate to the RB) - https://collections.vam.ac.uk/search/?q=royal ballet&page=1&page_size=15&kw_object_type=Poster
  16. And a perfect comic performance from Gary Avis. ps Rather a shame some people didn’t heed the request not to film or photograph the curtain call.
  17. It is! Not keen on the score though which does nothing for me I’m afraid.
  18. Sorry I posted the cast sheet just as Amanda posted hers! Very much looking forward to this evening especially as I'm not seeing this cast in any of the performances I am going to. I see the running time is 2hrs 45mins
  19. Rehearsal pics - https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72177720306929243
  20. Perhaps the lack of details of running time has put people off booking? I'm a bit flummoxed as to why this can't be confirmed just days before the production starts. Looks as though I will be travelling home with the drunks tomorrow night on the train then if it does run to more than three hours!
  21. But some Friends have been offered the discount (I have) and others haven't...! If all Friends had received it (regardless of whether they had booked for Cinderella or not, or regardless of dates booked) it would have been fine.
  22. As you say, their response doesn't answer the question at all. It rather begs the question who the "selected audiences" are!
  23. Except of course that the Saturday matinee has nearly sold out - (and the evening is selling reasonably well) and that was a strike day so not sure whether their argument really holds up!
  24. Some positive news (especially as I'm booked for Cinderella on the 1st!) - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64896128
