We just had our result for y4 Birmingham (day 2) - it’s a no for us! But actually we all feel fine, DD not bothered in the least and it makes me feel a bit relieved that we don’t have to decide as we accepted elmhurst 🙃. Just feel happy we have an answer! good luck to everyone else!! xx

Oh really sorry to hear that, Astrid. But how wonderful that she has Elmhurst!! What a wonderful position to be in at the end of today xx

Ahh Tiny so sorry, so hard and such a tiny chance? Well done to her for going for it and hopefully will try again next year? Fingers crossed for elmhurst for you too!! 🍀🍀xxxxx

Thank you. Such a tiny chance. But she loved the insight day and the audition and I think she would try again next year, unless something happens in the meantime... She will be upset if she doesn't get Elmhurst 🙁 Any tips on that one would be very much appreciated but I won't derail this thread!!

Good luck to everyone still waiting!!

Just as an aside and as a matter of interest do we know how many groups there were auditioning at Newcastle? I thought 3 but perhaps only 2?

There was at least 3 because we were Group 2 and there was another after us. I am really confused about the age categories though. Your DS is older than my DD Bunny, so that would suggest reverse chronological order, but there can't have been a younger group than DD's?! I know in the grand scheme of things it's not important but it has puzzled me for a while!

😆 Back bright and early at 9.01am 😁

Yep. 9.01am 😀. See you, Bunny and everyone else here!

If we’re all doing this next year then please can we wait somewhere together with plentiful snacks, distractions and phone chargers?! 👩🏼‍💻🤳🏼💁🏼‍♀️

You just never know! She might be exactly what they are looking for! I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed for her! What group was she in on the day? We were group one but luckily we didn't really see any over enthusiastic stretching!

Mine is a DS, going for a Y5 place. He has only been dancing for 18 months now though, so doesn't have an awful lot of experience of this type of thing at all although he does compete in festivals and competitions. He really, really wants it though as in his mind The RB are the best in the world and there is no other company or scheme that could possibly compare! Bless him. I have downplayed and distracted as much as possible and explained to him repeatedly that his chances are slim to none and although he knows this, it hasn't stopped him hoping and wishing!

Oh gosh I know exactly what you mean! While we don't know there's still a chance isn't there, but once the emails are out, if it's a no then that's it.....it's that that's the hard part I think!

She was in Group 2. She was one of the youngest there I think. Although I’m not quite sure how it works/worked still!

Fingers and everything crossed for them both, Bunny. Let me know about your son as soon as you hear! Would love for him to get the news he so desperately wants.

Think my daughter has accepted the fact that it will be a no, but there must be a secret part of her that still hopes it’s a yes! I am hiding the email refreshing and my chatting to you guys on this forum from her, she’s just casually getting on with life!

It’s just SO unlikely isn’t it?!

Right, what day are we realistically expecting to hear?!

Haha great minds think alike Tiny! Is it your DD or DS who is auditioning for Newcastle? Looking at the stats I think the odds are definitely against us with it being just the one mixed year group class! Really hope we find out soon.

DD for a year 4 place, first audition ever and no experience of anything like this (has never done a competition for example) and was rather bemused by the stretching in the waiting area so we really have NO chance at all! I’m not sure whether not knowing with a tiny glimmer of hope is better than knowing it’s a no?!

How about you Bunny? DD or DS? And what year group?

Well however it goes you’ll be our favourite person if you let us know as soon as you hear 😂

I will do @Hazel! Although I am genuinely not holding out any hope. She’s had one offer for elsewhere so that will definitely soften the blow. Even she really truly doesn’t believe she’s in with a chance. But you can’t help dreaming...!

DD was also quite scared by a lot of the stretching at the first insight day she went to, as well as the fact a lot of girls knew each other (which makes one more confident). At the auditions, we made her a little play list (things like little mix, power) and got there at the last minute, so she was zoned out and didn’t see as much! it worked a treat...

@Balletmamatotwo thank you for all your insights into elmhurst it seems like an amazing place. DD enjoyed going to see a ‘real life’ ballet school!

@TinyNEDancer good luck to your DD!

@Shellym the wait continues - wondering if any chance could be today? 🤔

Good luck to your daughter too, @Astrid!! I would love to know how she does when you find out. I’ll keep everything crossed for you!
