  1. I have ventured over to here from the doing dance section and can relate to this post. Dd has bad spots and finds that using natural moisurising cleansers work the best for her but off course everyone is different. If I was you I would go back to the doctors and see if they can provide a different cream. Xx
  2. If you want a second hand tap shoe, you could look on eBay as they may have some going cheap which are practically new!!
  3. Thanks for the link. Will look into this for dd!! Do you know if there is a minimum age? Thanks x
  4. If she has the confidence to do them, it will make it much easier. Although I am not an expert in ballet, when leading any skill for any sport such as learning a walkover in gymnastics, when you have confidence it makes it much easier and you are more likely to succeed.
  5. I would definitely find some where else for you dc to dance. Ballet dancers are extremely strong and definitely not weak!!
  6. Sorry for all of these questions but I am new to this all! I have heard that cba is very hard to get into but what about tpa? Thanks x
  7. Thank you for your replies. For a 13 year old girl would it be recommend to wear socks or convertible tights? What about for the assossiates audition?
  8. Hi my dd is auditioning for both cba and assossiates. Could anyone give me any infor on what to wear, what happens in the audition etc.? Thanks
  9. Hi this is posted on behalf of another friend. Her dd came home from school and said that people are calling her anorexic and making fun of her weight. Her mum thinks she is at a fine weight and say she eats lots however it has made her a bit worried. Any advise to give her? Thanks
  10. My dd has a dance Instagram account with one of her dancing friends. They just post pictures and videos like slo mo jumps or time lapses of their pointe warmup etc! It is just a bit of fun but me and her mum look at it sometime just to make sure everything is fine but never had any problems
  11. They are both a belles sing and a curse. A blessing because they are astetically pleasing but a curse because they can be dance routs if you stay back too much especially on pointe. They cause my dd mild pain too in her knees!
  12. Just wanted to say that I hope she gets better soon x
  13. Wow! 7 minutes is a long time. Dd's record is just over 5 minutes. She is working on core strength a lot more recently so she has been going to the gym. She is quite flexible so needs to be strong to maintain it.
  14. Where is this school located? Might look into it for dd!
  15. I depends what it is for and many different teachers believe different things. I think that technique should come first but then more flexibility is good too have too as once you can do a 45 degree kick with good technique you can then make it 90 degrees and all the way up to 180 degrees if you can still keep the good technique you have previously developed. Sorry if that is a bit confusing but I hope you understand my point
  16. Hi, I was just wondering what grade you would expect a 13 year old too be on if they were doing Istd ballet? Also. how many hours of dance would be a minimum to take? Is gymnastics helpful as dd would like to start?
  17. I am going to read through these topics. Thanks Anna and Janet
  18. Thank you ride along mum for the sewing tips. We will try that when dd needs new pointe shoes. Are there any brand recomndations?
  19. I tried to search it in the search bar but nothing came up. I would like to read that too as dd is hyper mobile x
  20. Thank you for the welcome Lisa. I have been looking at ballet co forum posts for few years now and have only just decided to make an account!
  21. Any tips on sewing the ribbons in pointe shoes? Also, is there any way to make grishko pointe shoes quieter?
  22. Thanks Anna. It doesn't matter if it is ballet or general as long as it includes ballet. Okie I have sent you a pm. Are there any other courses that you are familiar with anyone?
  23. Thank you. I have had a look on the website and will show dd tomorrow. Will probably have to wait until next year though as she is too young.
  24. Also my dd is 13 years old if this helps.
  25. Hi, I am new to this forum and I have a question regarding the urdang youth academy. My dd would like to take up extra classes and would like to join an associate scheme. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of this program and if it is good? Any other suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.
