  1. Hi dd may audition for LJB in September but it's quite far for us to travel every Sunday! Does anyone know of any good associate classes on a Sunday that are in surrey? DD is 12 and is going into y8 in sept! (We are not looking to apply for Royal!!)
  2. My DD is doing her last day at LCB junior summer school and she has loved everyday and doesn't ever want to leave!! Even though on her first day she didn't know anyone there she has made some really lovely friends that she will hopefully keep in touch with. She loved her rep teacher (Victoria) but she also learnt a lot from every class she took and loved them all! She was pushed a little (in some variations) but not too far as she had 7 hours a day of dance-including breaks.!! She loved it and would definitely recommend it to anyone from the age 9-12!!
  3. My DD is doing a summer school next week where she comes home every day after (doesn't stay there overnight). She is doing ballet , jazz, body-conditioning, repertoire, musical focus and body conditioning. What should she pack in her day to day bag??
  4. Thank u Anna C I didn't want DD to be the only one without a slip of paper with her teacher signature if I was not definetly sure what todo!
  5. Hi DD is auditioning for London junior ballet and it says you need your teachers permission to audition! Does this mean I actually have to hand them a peice of paper from Dd s teacher saying she can audition??
  6. Thanks parentTaxi it sounds like your dd does a lot of classes!! Does she do them all at one school??
  7. Thanks for the reply and yes we are looking into all of the extra classes you suggested so thank you a lot!! Dd borrows CDs to and because she does 7/8 classes of different genres of dance she practices a different one everyday!! Thanks for the LCB info too! How old was your DD when she auditioned??
  8. Thanks Anna, and no we don't have a competition team although whenever DDs school does competitions (they only do ballet comps) they have 4 children competing from our school and DD is one of them ! And unfortunately she does imperial ISTD rather than Ceccheti????
  9. Thanks for explaining inter foundation and g5&6 to me!!
  10. Cara, yes DD started Grade 5 recently but our school just call it IF, do you know if this is just an ISTD thing as she does ISTD syllabus for every lesson she does??
  11. My DD has been dnabcing since she was three (9 years). Yes her school do stretch but it is at the same time as one of her ballets????and she does Pilates at home sometimes as her sister used to do it but quit as there were to many younger ones(she's 16)! And yes her non-syllabus class does free work and pre-pointe exercises! We have decided to audition for LCB a second time round if she doesn't get into LJB because they are both on Sunday's and the timings over lap!???? So if she gets into either of these it will be more hours which I guess means more progress as she is v hardworking! Thanks for your comment!
  12. DD does level 5 and we are going to talk to her teacher about joining grade 5 which is also inter foundation. Also are auditioning for LJB!
  13. My DD is 12 and does 3-4 hours of ballet a week ISTD G4 G5 and an extra class which is non-syllabus. Obviously nobody on here has seen my daughter dance but in terms of what grade she is in do you think she would have a chance of getting in?? DDs right hamstring is flexible but not so much left (she can't do box splits) though we back and feet are very flexible and strong too! Also, if she does get accepted will we need character shoes for the classes or not??
  14. Yes she taught a girl (Anna O'Sullivan-think that was her name) who was accepted into LCB and then was accepted into WL, also a girl who is at London Russian ballet school and is starting at Vaganova Next Septemer! Sadly they don't do vocational exams at our dance school (is this a bad thing?) DD is going into y8 next year and is in G4 and G5- aka inter foundation. And sorry but are vocational classes the same as associate classes or not??
  15. Thanks for replying, your comment gave me less reason to why DD should be en pointe so early!! Thanks
  16. Thanks for replying to my comment, i guess it's good that my DD only does 45 mins of tap each week!!
  17. That's very interesting actually as I guess it is correct as in tap you have to do pull backs etc which do stretch your ankles!!
  18. Thanks for the replies, have helped a lot!!
