Sorry, just to add - there is some quite advanced pointe work during the course. My daughter is the same age and found it challenged her at times despite having been on pointe for 2 yrs and at vocational school.

This was my daughter's experience too. She definitely learned a lot and very much enjoyed the week.

  2. Hi all,

We have four tickets to the Final Show (Sunday 7th July) in the front row of the Circle. (Bought prior to results).

As it happens, that's not a convenient date for us to go now and we will ideally be looking to book on another date. If anyone is interested in the tickets please message me for details - it would be particularly lovely if friends or family of someone in the Production had them as they are great seats.

If there are no takers, I will put this up on the tickets sale/exchange thread next year.

    Thanks everyone!

  3. DD1 spent a week at ENBS last summer (as per the thread, this is not an option now) and was in a group of 13 year olds (on average). There were dancers attending from all the world and the standard was high. With it being non-residential I think those dancers that had travelled and were staying in London tended to mix together after hours but we just used to come home. We got the impression that dancers were being evaluated for their potential to join the school (or attend future courses) although that was not formally confirmed in any way.

We had the opportunity to watch on the last day: ballet, pointe and character. I'm a non dancer but the teaching appeared to be excellent (and in some cases quite strict) and DD1 really enjoyed her course and would definitely return another year. My husband and I remarked that if circumstances allowed her to do the four week course, she'd probably improve as much in that time as she would in an average year!

Yes we are the same, my dd got a no but a waiting list for tour.

    Do they all get this?

It's a very nicely worded rejection and I wondered if they all get waiting list to soften the blow?

Just trying to manage expectations - don't want her waiting in hope.

Does anyone know of anyone who got a tour place from waiting list?

Congrats to all those who got a yes! Quite an achievement.

Well done to your DD @Betty they definitely don't all get this as DD2 was offered nothing at all after Finals (which was what DD1 got last year), so that's a big achievement!

a sad moment....i can only imagine it gets tougher to get in as the age rises...hope she finds another door opens soon instead x

It's tough on her that she got Finals two years in a row without ever getting to be part of an LCB Production but it just wasn't meant to be. She felt she did her best and had been excited to get the result but she'll move on quickly. It was opening night for her school production and her first pas de deux in public tonight so not much time to dwell on it!

Hope those that have places have a brilliant time 🙂

Hi, the main show and tour rehearsal schedules are completely different. If your child has a letter/email today offering a Ballet Shoes 2019 contract then they've definitely been offered the main show. My son's been offered the main show this year too but 3 years ago got a tour and the tour letter is different. Congratulations to all those who got a yes today and please don't give up to those who got a no this time xx

Sadly for DD1 it was her last opportunity as she's 14 so she will have to give up on LCB.

@Mummy2BalletFairies that's a place in the main company.

  7. I believe tour rehearsals are completely separate but I'm sure there will be others on the forum with more direct experience who could clarify the process.

    Congratulations to your dc!

DD1 was waitlisted for the tour but as it will take place during her GCSE year it would be unlikely that we would be able to accept a place if it did come up. I believe it's a fantastic experience though from dd's friends who have done it in the past.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Your girls are such beautiful dancers x

Thank you @margarite that's so kind of you 🙂. Two consecutive Finals for DD1 with no success and DD2 was recalled last year without Finals so was excited to reach Finals this year and came out buzzing but it wasn't meant to be for either of them. Congratulations to everyone who was successful, I'm sure it will be an amazing Production.

Just found this on an email regarding final auditions.

Results from this final audition will reach you by Wednesday 28 November.

Looks like we might have to wait another few days!

I remember seeing that on the email invitation to Finals but when the ladies manning the desks on Sunday were telling parents it would most likely be this week I hoped it would be sooner. However, post has just been here and there is nothing so I guess it will be next week after all.

Dd thinks it didn’t go well - she’s had a very busy week and thinks she wasn’t at her best. Oh well.

Did anyone else find the audition result email went into their junk folder? Weirdly, all the other audition emails come straight through to my inbox without a problem, but I didn’t find that one until a day after it was sent.

Hopefully it went better than your DD thought 🙂.

Last year final results came by post rather than by email. The ladies registering the children yesterday said they were hoping to get them out this week if they could. Good luck!

we're last-minute hotel booking for saturday night- on the hunt for recommendations from trusty forum members? good luck to all attending sunday x

Sorry not to be able to help as we are commuting distance and have not had to stay overnight before. I believe there is a Travelodge not too far away

Good luck on Sunday to all the Finalists x

  12. Interestingly, though #AllEngland is one of the hashtags on one of the event's FB posts, the dates do clash with some of the Regional Finals for AE, although perhaps there will be an element of collaboration to prevent any true overlap?

Very interesting also to see the names of the schools and companies published as supporting the event.

  13. I was definitely talking about the Anna Rose O'Sullivan workshop in Feb as I know someone who attended it. Our dds are too old for the Nutcracker workshop so I didn't look into the details of that one.

Both my dds were invited to the Masterclass last year, one having got to Finals and one having been recalled on Day 1 but not in invited to Finals.

When I say "open to all" I mean open to all auditionees.

It might say on the website.

If you don't mind me asking, for those of you who got places and those on the waiting list, what level/grade ballet are your children or people you know of?  I'm thinking of putting in a last minute application for my DD but I'm not sure what level they are looking for.  If you'd rather PM, please do :)

DD had a "no" so not sure if this helps, but she is 14 and is hoping to take RAD Grade 6 and Intermediate next term. She's also an Associate (but never at RBS) and attended ENBS Summer School last year.

  15. I wonder what the impact of this statement will be on YAGP and similar competitions? Is it likely to put anyone off? One potential outcome for those international students that are particularly focused on trying to achieve an offer from RB Upper School might be an increase in the numbers of students applying to participate in RBS' own new international auditions perhaps? Who knows?

Personally, I could not agree more with the points about artistic expression and connection outweighing the value of competition tricks but we (and young people especially) do now live in an Instagram/Snapchat etc. culture so speaking out against competitions may be just the tip of the iceberg.

Sorry to come back to this but it looked more than the two a term.  There are several Sundays - it is all of the dates listed not just the ones with Easter Holiday Rehearsal etc along side.  This is what we were told so unless they have said anything different to anyone else.

I think all of the CBA summer term clashes but taking everything one step at a time!

Sorry to hear about your envelope. Pleased to hear there is another batch being sent out as we haven’t received ours yet x

It might just be worth contacting EYB, especially if you haven't had anything by Monday. Miss Lewis was so lovely about our situation - it turned out the sticky strip on the envelope was still intact so it hadn't been stuck down at all - we don't even know whether inadvertently an empty envelope had been sent.

    Good luck x
