  1. Studios looked great and we had a cheeky sneaky peak at what I imagine were the older students through the window, who looked amazing but DD came out deflated and couldn't really describe what she'd done other than different to Tring? There were older and much more advanced girls in her group and it was more mixed in terms of boy/girl ratio (only slightly though). I was surprised as I naively thought all associate auditions would be pretty similar but that shows how much I know doesn't it!! Of course different school will do things their way, have their own methods and requirements. We quickly received a NO via email even though the previous correspondence said we would find out on May 17th and by letter (confirmed by a lady at the audition too) so I wondered if they had already discounted DD from the photos sent by application as such a quick rejection? But looking here other people have had a yes/no on the day so perhaps maybe not? I guess today wasn't her day. Luckily she was fine and I'm glad we've got her first no out of the way and not crumbled. I can see why it can be so frustrating with no feedback you are left to speculate but as soon as she came out I could tell just from her reaction. Anyway- if anyone else was there I hope it went better and it looked like a fun place to dance and very well regarded.
  2. NO BISCUITS. Also. Man in coffee shop cut my doughnut in half before serving it to me which maybe is the thing in Chiswick but I consider that vandalism.
  3. Looks like I'm going to be competitive bourbon snaffling with young children then. No biscuit is safe from their little clutches... Even at Tring...! .........Et In Arcadia Ego.
  4. Not sure if anyone else is here today but if you are good luck! The studios are amazing!!
  5. I'll keep fingers crossed for Monday for you!
  6. Oh good luck to her!!! Still v stressful.....:-( I am going to make myself a bourbon sandwich carpet picnic on a fortnightly basis.
  7. May I ask....do they assess out each year or is it to check current level and move accordingly? More importantly....do you get Bourbon biscuits every week while you wait or is that just to lull auditioning parents into false sense of security?
  8. Hope the postman brings news today for those waiting x
  9. I think the paprika could have added a certain charm but luckily we had an extra back up bobbly leotard which is now the "lucky" leotard! Thank you..still can't believe it!
  10. Oh I'm shaking like a leaf it was a yes for DD a Group 1 :-)
  11. Oh wow! Congratulations! Postman hasn't been here yet but that's fab news!
  12. We had our London email today! Hope everyone else waiting for London audition times has heard?
  13. Thank you - it's her first audition ever for anything and I couldn't feel more out of my league. It will be very exciting to actually be at Tring though- after lurking on this forum for so long- it will sort of bring Balletco to life! Strange to think DD's little feet will be following (however briefly) in the illustrious footsteps of some of the dancing children on here!
  14. Sadly me being the wide eyed innocent moon calf that I am just thrust it into a normal wash which means it's doomed. If anyone asks.... DD was in kitchen practising her DARK ARTS of potion making (Potter fan) with yesterday's soup ingredients and what better way to clean your hands than a brief wipe....
  15. Socks! Good thank you very much.....any ideas about how to get paprika stains out......much appreciated...
  16. Sorry if this has been asked before but can't find anything on the audition email itself- does it matter if it's tights or socks for the little ones? DD has managed to lose her good pair plus just this morning has enhanced her leotard with the addition of large paprika stain to the backside. This bodes well.
  17. Nothing other than the confirmation email for our London audition either. I wasn't expecting to hear for a week or more yet?
  18. Thank you hfbrew and thequays- wise words indeed! Sorry to take thread off at a tangent hellogoodbye, let us know how the privates progress!
  19. Thequays has put the fear of god into me rather early today. This is a very interesting conundrum and if ever you feel like starting such a thread I'd be keen to see what general advice dancers had? How WOULD I know? :-( Hellogoodbye - my DD learnt so much more in her privates I would honestly say they were worth two or more normal. If you can afford them and your DD won't miss the class experience then she will benefit from the focus. It's much more intense and my DD was a bit glazed afterwards! If she gets on with her teacher well then she might blossom under the one to one instruction and, you never know, come to enjoy it a bit more? Our arrangements were an informal one as her teacher just loved to come over and spend time with DD in the holidays or every once in a while during term and even though her teacher has moved on she still keeps an eye on progress. Your DD has potential and somebody behind her ready to give her the attention to succeed- I think go for it!
  20. LinMM thank you for nailing your colours to the mast! Its encouraging when people have the confidence to say they are delighted or excited by a new talent. It's easier to be critical but if everyone took this stance it would make appreciating any art form rather bleak - especially for us newbies x
  21. Ooh JulieW - dancing at the royal Ballet school then getting to watch a ballet in the evening! Sigh.......! I'd be floating not walking, how lovely for you and your family.
  22. I'm new to the forum but wanted to send my best wishes to you and your family and hope for a speedy recovery for your brave girl x
  23. This is also something else I have picked up from this forum - thequays did you breezily hint that you'd never been taught the step, along with a world weary shrug and an innocent wide eyed look of neglect? I've read this is an excellent technique in an exam UNLESS your actual teacher is in the room, in which case - exit examiner and the biblical wrath of your teacher will descend upon you.
