  1. I was a size 1 at 13 and still remember the horror at having to wear Clarks patent leather t bar shiny shoes when everyone else was wearing Doc Martens (I'm only a 2.5 now!). My daughter is 10 and a size 13 and will still wear Clarks but it sounds like a minefield as they get older! I have already had a discussion with her about having a rucksack to carry her books properly (which is NOT cool!) but if she is little and dancing so much I don't want her to damage her back!
  2. http://www.dancemania.biz/full-suede-sole-canvas-ballet-shoe.html Don't know what make these are but first thing that came up on a google search. Hope you get some joy finding the ones you want! Would leather not be more supportive (despite your DD not liking the bulkiness?)
  3. Lol! Are they easy to spot??! I'm looking forward to many a coffee and cake and chatting sessions!
  4. Late reply to this thread but if you are still thinking things over, my brother stayed at his local dance school and then got a full scholarship to The Laines when he was 16. He's worked ever since (currently understudy to Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys).
  5. Thanks too! Got back from hols and size 1 waiting which fits much better (with room still to spare)! Not she needs much growing room for a years class. She's just a very small 10 1/2 year old in her 6-8 years leotard! First class a week on Saturday!!
  6. Lol!! I have just reordered a size 1 leotard as the size 2 was massive on her! My other daughter who is 8 (who didn't get in for a year 4 place) is dancing at 11.30 but the dance teacher at home is very kindly having her from 8.30am as a 'helper' for the little ones! She finished at 1.20pm so we should be back in time to collect her. Then Eloise has musical theatre at 4.30.
  7. Only just seen this reply. 9.30 on sept 8th but you prob know this by now. My dd is so excited!!!!
  8. My dd dance school doesnt close over the summer. Some do but some don't.
  9. I've tried her leotard on again today and realise I just need to get her a size one. It does look a bit too baggy. Have emailed Ids shop to see if they'll exchange it!

  11. How did you stitch it? I don't think my sewing machine will cope with stretchy fabric?
  12. Hi Amber21 Are you at Leeds going into year 6 too? Your daughter is tall at 135cm! Although I know my 10 year old is very small at 127! Oh well, I'm sure she'll grow into her size 2 leotard! Maybe they'll be someone there with a tight looking size 1 leotard and they can swop!!
  13. I am looking for one of those circular tutu bags with the strap across the inside and carry handle. Seen them £20 ish new. Does anyone have one in good condition before I splash out on one?
  14. Thanks everyone! I'm leaving it until the weekend before and am going to machine it so it just touches floor when kneeling!
  15. Anyone know who has made these before if I can machine the hem of the skirt rather than hand stitching? I have finished bar turning up the hem which goes on forever 3x 44 inches! It doesn't specify in the instructions and as they are so specific about other things like not using Velcro for the belt I presume it's ok??? I'm probably worrying over nothing but don't want to be asked to redo it!!
  16. Excellent! We'll see you there!!! My daughter is Eloise and my name is Zoe. We are coming from Sheffield. I have grey hair with pink in it so you can't really miss me! I have made Eloise's skirt last week! Only got to turn up the hem now. I was wondering if I can get away with machining the hem since its 44inches wide x 3!!! I can't face hand sewing it. It doesn't specify in the instructions and since they are so specific about everything else I am presuming it would be ok??? Eloise is so excited. She has packed and unpacked her bag about 20 times!!!
  17. My DD has a year 6 place at leeds too!!!!!! Are you at 9.30??? And my DD auditioned for NB JAs but didn't get in but got in first time with RB. I still can't work out what they are looking for!! Congratulations!!!
  18. We had our bill for Leeds last week
  19. Hi My DD is going into year 6 (first time JA) and I bought her size 2 and its pretty baggy. I was worried the size one would be too small. It is baggy under the armpits and crotch. But I didn't want to squeeze her ito a smaller one and it show her bits! And she'll probably grow! She's 10 but only 127cm tall and in size 8-9 clothes. Making the national skirt was the hardest part but it's done now!!!
  20. Thanks. My brother lives in Epsom (currently in Jersey Boys understudy Frankie Valli) so hoping to stay sun night with him and might try there for the mon night! Thankyou! Yes she must have impressed them with something. She was offered the CAT scheme too but was too much travelling. Must be something there!
  21. And someone else said the 2 day workshop was £50. But we have to add travel From Sheffield and somewhere to stay on top of that.
  22. So my daughter will be doing the same stuff as your dd even though she has only done grade 1?? My she's going to have her work cut out! And in with girls who have done years 4 and 5 already?
  23. Our dance teacher goes to Primark and buys whole rails of vests, leggings, tights. She's amazing at kitting out the kids very effectively at a bargain price. Amazing!!
