  1. Well good luck to everyone waiting to hear now and hopefully not too long to wait ! We had our letter last year before elmhurst audition so hope it's around the same time my dd had a great day both times we had a really nice girly day this year and shopping in bullring so if its a no then at least we both had fun xxxx
  2. Hi I agree with above comments .. My dd started as a elmhurst associate last year and has improved very dramatically . She also does exercise class which they don't do at her home school so is improving in her flexibility and also they are not doing just rad stuff so is enjoying something different
  3. Yes we got our Birmingham results before my dd auditioned for elmhurst which was 23rd June so hopefully be around that time again cross fingers
  4. Hi 2littledancers solo performance award is a new optional add on to the grade exam. They do it after they have took main exam and then in next exam rounds they take the solo exam . There is 3 dances they learn classical ballet, freestyle ballet and character and they take it in turns to do their dance in front of the examiner. They are lively dances and my dd loved learning them and performing in front of her
  5. So sorry to hear that but it's always worth trying again and it's good experience for your child xxx
  6. My dd did new grade 3 exam in November and did get a distinction but slightly lower score all the girls who took it got similar . They then did the solo performance grade 3 award in march and got distinctions again but slightly higher . My dd loved the new grade but was hard to learn , maybe it depends on which examiner you get?
  7. That is good to hear lovely to hear good news xx
  8. I did my dd hair before we set off and gave myself plenty of time to get it right so she was happy with it. She had her leotard under some jogging bottoms and just took them off when she got there.
  9. I know the feeling well! My dd has just done her elmhurst associate assessments and got to wait for results of that nervously!! And also waiting for JA audition results ! My dd more nervous about elmhurst one as she loves it do much there
  10. There was 20 in each class and my dd wore her normal ballet leotard ,socks and her ballet shoes that she wears for her class at home. My dd enjoyed her audition it'd just like a normal ballet class
  11. Good luck to her I'm sure she will be fine elmhurst is a lovely place and dd loves her teacher if u have any questions feel free to ask me xx
  12. They get assessed this month and hopefully get another year but not all do so fingers crossed just tell her to go in there and just enjoy it and try her best that's all they can do my dd came out smiling and really happy she enjoyed every minute x
  13. Hi my dd auditioned last year for year 4 Birmingham and was offered a place . She loves her classes very much and the only advice we could give is just go in to your auditionand show then how much she loves ballet! It's just a very basic ballet class and they did ask her to do some stretches and she did her best but dont worry about splits and things as she couldn't do any at the time. Just go in there and enjoy it and smile x goodluck
  14. Yes avoid it!! I always end up in build a bear buying a new one and its accessories !! X
  15. She said it was like a normal ballet class galloping and stretching and the teacher asked them to stretch in different positions a d it was all basic ballet things nothing that they haven't done before and don't worry about splits because her friend got in and she can't do them they also want to see how they enjoy ballet x
  16. My advice is to not stress about it as my dd got very uptight and worried but when she came out she said she enjoyed the experience and it was like a normal lesson for her, we got a no but this time she is just going to chill out and have fun plus empty my purse in the bullring!! They seem to be looking for body shapes as my dd friend got in last year and she said they all tend to look the same so tell her not to worry just enjoy it and smile x
  17. We got our audition time for Birmingham too 10.45 Friday 10th
  18. Thank u spanner and pony when doctor examined her you could see the length difference . I think the pain was why her teacher recommended we get her checked out will see how it goes it goes in 6months then . Thank you x
  19. Hi she has grown in the last year. her ballet teacher who is also a physio noticed she was leaning over to one side last year and checked her out she told me not to worry as hopefully it will catch up and that she is still growing but now a little worried if it doesn't what will happen?
  20. Hi I hope you don't mind me just asking a question now you have brought this topic up:) my 9 year old daughter has been told that one of her legs is 1cm longer than the other and she does get some pain with it. She loves her dancing and is a elmhurst associate will this affect her in her dancing and does anyone have any advice ? went to doctors and he wants to see her again in 6 months and said he might have to get it x rayed! Completely clueless here!!
  21. Hi my dd goes to ballet class twice a week and then has a associate class on Saturday , she is 9 and I think that is enough for her she enjoys her ballet , she did do tap and jazz but decided she wasn't enjoying it but I do agree a good variety of classes so they can try different dance styles
  22. My dd did grade 2-3 last session and really enjoyed it they had a different teacher each time so was lots of variety and aimed more at performance I think .(my dd not very good at letting me know what she does!) she's doing grade 4-5 this time and looking forward to it
  23. Wow congratulations to your dd what a achievement x
  24. Wow congratulations to all the young dancers graduating:) you all most be very proud !!! My little one is just starting too having got a place as a elmhurst associate and a little worried about the journey we are on but it sounds worth it when I see this post well done to the dancers and their parents xxxx
