  1. Hi all the children in my dds dancing school who got in elmhurst last year also did exercise for children as our teacher recommended it. My dd will be doing exercise for children and ballet . As far as I know last year they started at 9.15 I think ballet was a hour they had 15 mins break and then it was exercise class. They didn't do jazz so can't help you with that .
  2. Hi and welcome:) congrats to your ds in getting a place ! What a situation !! Must be hard being happy for one but consoling your other one sorry I have a dd too who got a place but don't know of any other ds who got in but there did seem a lot of boys there so should be a few x
  3. We nearly didn't go to elmhurst after disappointment of the royal !!! But she then calmed down and wanted to try I think it gives them the drive to keep going but it's hard when they are so little ! Xx
  4. Oh I am so sorry Maria I know how you feel but if your lovely little one wants it keep trying ! Big hugs xxxxxx
  5. Look forward to it happymum I have a very excited and happy dancer!!! Just at ballet lesson now xxx
  6. Congrats happymum:) my dd got a YES too !!! So happy not told her yet:) xxxx
  7. You need to stay here my little one is 8 and I need all the help and advice I can get ????I have no one that I can talk to at home about ballet and the stresses and enjoyment!! It's so good here to listen to all that happens to all your children and what I might have to expect. Your help and advice is a godsend ❤
  8. I think Maria you have to go on your instincts of what to do and say. All children handle things differently and you know best how your little one will cope best . Unfortunately for me my dd didn't forget about it and every week asked if the letter had come!! Was going to wait till after elmhurst but all my dd wanted was to get in the royal and didn't want to go to elmhurst so I thought it best to break it to her that she didn't get in so she would give her best to elmhurst , and thankfully she loved it:) you will know what to do and say when you are ready xx
  9. Hi Maria to be honest I had a talk to her before we got the letter to prepare her for a no. I explained that they have a lot of girls to choose from and that they are looking at potential and body shapes at her age and that it just wasn't the right time . When I got the letter I sat her down gave her a cuddle and said it wasn't your time now sweetheart and you can try again if you want. We had some tears but to be honest later on in the day and after talking to her ballet teacher she was fine and has decided she wants to try next year. I was in twos minds to let her audition for both but I tjink it's worth giving it a shot xx oh and I let her see the letter later in day when she had calmed down and she wanted to read it
  10. Yes I thought that at JAs was a lot of number ordering but today they just huddled in a group and went in they didn't seem to be as many in a group too which might have put my dd at ease a bit!! It seemed to go quick as i was engrossed in my bejewelled on my phone and dd sneaked up on me ! Good luck to your little one Maria x
  11. Thank you x stalking postie time again!!!

  17. Yesterday we saw a different doctor who has said she has mild asthma and she has been given the brown preventative inhaler so I'm going to see how she goes with that . But going to keep a close eye on things. I am allergic to a lot of things and I wondered if it was that but not been offered any allergy tests. Just so hard to know what to do best , kids are such a worry !!
  18. Congrats to your dd happymum:) sadly I know how you both feel new to dance just keep trying xx
  19. Thanks for the tip glowlight the more I know the better for her! Xx
  20. I feel a little easier now its a worry when they are so active you want to wrap them up in cotton wool! Think the problem was my doctor, I have been so many times and been told its not asthma it's just the way she is and she takes deep breathes without realising shes doing it, but I have lost count how many times I have had to go to school because she is struggling and panicking. I will see how she goes with this inhaler and just monitor her now . Thanks everyone
  21. Thank you Maisie Lou .. It's very encouraging and reassures me a lot . My daughters dance teacher uses 2buildings and one of them too is very old with a dusty carpet in the room they change in which I would imagine aggravates it. I have dust allergies so I know what that's like! I do feel better now I have seen doctor again. Just have to keep monitoring it and definately getting a de humidifier Thanks again to both of you for your replies xx
  22. Thank you for your reply its put my mind at ease a bit I might have a word with her dance teacher. Doctor said he thinks a lot of it is panic because her chest tightens and she then try's and takes more breaths in which makes it worse . Told her to relax abit and take long breaths in
  23. Sorry if it's been talked about before but can't find anything. My daughter is 8 and has been dancing since she was 4. Over the last year we noticed she seemed to take deep breaths frequently I took her to the doctors and they gave her a inhaler to use before exercise. But it's not just exercise that gets her out of breath she can be sitting down and still look like she is breathing deeply. We took her back and they did a peak flow chart and it came back all clear. When she dances she is fine she just uses her inhaler before class. We took her back to doctors today and he thinks she just has a mild form of asthma so is trying her on the brown inhaler as a preventive . Is their anyone on here who's children have this problem. ? I'm worried now but doctor says it shouldn't interfere in her normal life and to keep going what she's doing. Sorry of I'm rambling but am worried
  24. Thanks everyone for all your kind words on here:) it really helps me and my dd to know we are not on our own and that our first no doesn't mean that's it! We too have a amazing teacher that gives support and boosts her confidence and yesterday she was upset and felt the decision was down to her not being good enough but after a few cuddles and kind words she is eager to do her ace class today I am so glad I found this forum you are all amazing:) xx
  25. Sorry to hear no's from you both . Just told my dd and we have had tears but she's cheering up a bit now (after I said I would take her out for a treat!) good thing is she's in angelina ballerina show next month so at least she's got that to look forward to:) and we have elmhurst next week. It was her first rejection so it was going to hurt but atleast she's ready now for anything else!!
