  1. Yes snowflake she's yr 7 hopeful too , we've had a bumpy ride and she has questioned her dancing ability completely . Good luck to you all , we have one more final next month at The Hammond x
  2. My DD was also there on Tuesday and was also told her calves were slightly tight , they also said that they thought this was due to. Growth spurt she was having . She's took this also as a bad sign so doesn't expect anything positive , she was in group 2 and said how wonderful everyone was , though there was 8 people that seemed to be on the judging panel watching . She loved her day though and that's the main thing xx
  3. Yes amos73 our letter also just said pink ballet tights no mention of different age groups x
  4. It definitely says tights in the letter so that is what DD will be wearing ????
  5. Hi it just says that they would like to see you again at the final audition on March 15th , and that following the last pre lim auditions in January we will get more details about times etc x
  6. Thanks very much everyone - DH nearly fainted as he thought we would be paying full fees ????
  7. Does anyone know how many the Hammond send offers to and do they all automatically go to funding audition?
  8. My DD also got a yes today from The Hammond for Yr 7 ???? we have the funding audition in April too x
  9. We were there too yesterday, I thought the staff seemed a bit under it ? They did mention they were short staffed as they had RAD exams going on but my DD had a really lovely day and enjoyed meeting everyone . I know what you mean re the boarding houses though.
  10. Hi Sugerpumpkin I do hope your DD is ok this whole process is extremely hard . I know I have had sleepless nights about it. It's difficult to know what to say as your DC will look to you to know exactly what to say or do. I agree with Mae989 though it will make your DD stronger . My DD is also a JA and her class isn't very friendly at all she gets looks like she shouldn't be there and has had to overcome this , but it has made her more determined. Anyway the DC that go to finals not all will get offered a place as the stakes get more competitive, by which time your lovely DD will have probably secured something. There's still bags of hope don't let her think there isn't xx
  11. Oh balletmum20 we have the 15th of March ? Must be more than one date x
  12. My heart skipped a beat when I saw this earlier as my DD was also there last Tuesday. We also have a yes for finals my DD was sure she'd done terrible , she is so happy xx
  13. Taxi for ballet - yes they are all grade 5 they do the inter classes separately at my DD's school .
  14. Thanks all for the advice I am looking at other dancing schools although it's difficult due to the location of where we live which is away from the centre . She is the sort of person to not want to make a fuss including me making one too , I think she is outgrowing this local school with how she has whisked through her grades so whatever happens after the auditions I think in the end I will move her away to enhance her training better elsewhere . She is so lucky to have her JA teacher as I believe its her hard work and dedication which has really developed her technique as it's very strong now and it must be a bit off putting for everyone else in her class - she dances with people who are 14 and 15 years of age due to the grade she is on , I have no conplaints with them as they are so nice to her . I do wonder though if there has been a bit of jealousy from the other mums and that's why the teacher is behaving the way she is ? We will see what happens with the auditions she keeps saying if there's a miracle and I get a place - bless
  15. It's been a while since I posted but need some advice. My DD is a RBS JA and has been since Y4 . She is in her last year with them . The problem is not with this as she thoroughly enjoys her time there , it's her local dance school . She does festivals which she loves and always has excellent results , the last she won 4 in a row on the same day. However even though she has moved into grade 5 aged just 10 and throughout all her exams has always gained in the 90's her teacher barely gives her any praise at all - this upsets her so much as she works extremely hard it's incredably frustrating as my DD this year will be going through the audition process for vocational school and I don't feel she is being supported at all by her dance school she is just quite often overlooked and they even forget which classes she is in even though she never misses any class and hasn't done for probably 5 years. So what do I do ? The teacher in question is also the principal of the school and I had a right job getting her to agree that my DD should audition for vocational school , she doesn't agree with them going away at 11 . I haven't told her about some auditions as the negativity is pretty unbearable . Countless times I have tried to speak to her about this but she brushes it off and says she's too busy to speak . I'm really concerned about this I know there are other pupils in the school that need attention too but my DD is the only RBS JA and was the first one to get in after about 20 or so years from their school though she is poorly treated and made to feel inadequate , a little bit of credit wouldn't hurt I feel .
  16. Hi Southerndancemum, I asked the same question last year re the school report and was told that because they only see the children for a small amount of time they like to get a better picture of how they are at school too . It's all new this year being online and we also didn't have to send another picture in either .
  17. Hi Southerndancemum I'm sure this has been raised before on here but I can tell you what I know there is always a full set of places available in Y4 then at the end of Y4 they move up to Y5 but spaces are created for the ones that don't want to carry on , this is how my DD got her place . It continues like this from Y5 - Y6 again with only a few places available. I also know that they do make space for children too if they think the potential is there . Good Luck
  18. They are in with the girls .
  19. Hi Southerndancemum my DD is currently a yr5 JA There was three of them who got yr5 places last year my DD 1girl and 1 boy. She absolutely loves her class and I do agree it's the most worthwhile thing we have done for her. She too has been to Covent Garden which she thoroughly enjoyed , I'm also aware that RBS doesn't always offer places To just fill the class they will run it smaller . Hope that helps you . All the best x
  20. She wants to , working out the logistics though and the fuel bill lol !!
  21. Thanks Twiglet , though she auditioned in Manchester for a place at Birmingham . It's all a bit surreal to be fair she's not bothered by it at all but I have has a few sleepless nights wondering about it all . There might be some more letters next week as another girl we know is still waiting for news too x
  22. Thanks we wasn't expecting any places but she got two and she's only 8
  23. Hi my DD found out last week she had a place at Elmhurst - Birmingham she also has a place at RBS . Is it possible to do both ? DD wants to .
  24. Many thanks everyone , all the best to those still waiting !!
