  1. I realise reading this back it may sound a bit like sour grapes. It really isn't and I am very happy for all those who have made it.
  2. It's a no for my daughter. She's taken it very well and I'm just so glad to know either way. In some ways a no does protect us from going further down this highly competitive route. I know of a super dancer who did two years of JAs and didn't get mids. At least we won't be on that rollercoaster. We are stepping off and will carry on locally with summer school and maybe a few auditions for productions along the way. Enjoyment will be the main focus.
  3. No results today? Please let this waiting be over soon so we can move on!
  4. Lovely news. That's an amazing achievement to have two children in JA's. Will you have a year off from auditions or will your eldest be auditioning for MA's next year. You must have nerves of steel to go through it all with two!
  5. At the audition when they said results via email instead of letters I initially thought that would be better. However nearly two weeks down the line I am constantly checking emails whereas last year, when awaiting results, once the post had been I could switch off for another day and I think that's preferable!
  6. Huge congratulations all round. For those still waiting try not to see all these yes's as the norm. So far on this forum all posts have been yes but as we all know that is not representative and for the vast majority of us it will be a no.
  7. Wonderful news. Well done. Can I ask if Email came during working hours or was it this evening?
  8. When you put it like that we must all be bonkers!!
  9. I am no ballet expert so I've probably used the wrong terminology! What I mean is when they lie on their backs and do froggies can their legs turn right out with knees to the floor.
  10. When you say very thin do you mean generally thin all over or legs in particular?
  11. No idea re numbers I'm afraid. I was wandering if they look for perfect flat turnout or is that unusual in a child so young?
  12. I ought to add that this is pure speculation so don't be disappointed if I am totally wrong!
  13. I predict emails will come on Friday 13th based on last years letters.
  14. We are in London this week. Feeling much more relaxed than last time. Realisation over the past year that if not correct physique then it's a no go. Not much you can do about body proportions so we've got nothing to lose.
  15. Last year the letters came out around mid June, which was earlier than anticipated. This was for London.
  16. Our reply slip has been sent back first class for JA audition in two weeks time. Couldn't resist giving the letter a little kiss fot good luck before popping it in the post box!
  17. Anyone at the Eastleigh audition today?
  18. Thankyou very much for the replies. Most helpful.
  19. Has anyone got experience of this? I am looking for a non residential summer course for my 9 year old dd. The other one I looked at was LCB but I think we've missed the closing date?
  20. Thankyou for all your comments. Very helpful. I will look into summer school for next year and she has EYB audition lined up. She did a production with them last year and loved it. Watching her dance is such a delight for me so in whatever capacity that takes, be it an open class at the end of term or a solo, I will continue to enjoy it as much as she does.
  21. My nine year old dd is a lovely dancer. I have been told by her teachers that she is 'good'. I have no experience of dance myself apart from being a ballet mummy since dd was about three years old. She auditioned for Rbs ja's last year and didn't get in. She is due to audition again this year. Her exam marks are always distinctions in all genres. My question is this: am I barking up the wrong tree? We have just done festivals, ballet solo, where she was the youngest in her age group and she wasn't placed despite respectable marks. I am at a crossroads. Do we just let things take their course or do we look for extra associate classes etc? I don't want to look back and think she didn't have the opportunity to fulfil her passion for dance but equally where do you stop seeking more and accept she's just very good rather than exceptional?? I don't know at this stage which category she falls into.
  22. Does anyone know when applying for ja if a second centre can be requested? We live between London and Eastleigh and have applied for London. I know very competitive entry at all centres but looking at RBS report looks like odds much lower for London last year as huge nbers auditioned there.
