  1. Does anyone have a proper McCall's or Simplicity tutu pattern for a child 8 or 9? It seems they have discontinued these patterns. Thanks Any state would be fine !
  2. Hello We're after a pink or blue size 2 BBO leotard. Thanks
  3. Thanks, really disappointed but dd has a tap exam fast approaching so I guess we'll focus on that and then we have summer school with a show at the end of July, so lots to look forward to. (But not the same! ) I have also consoled myself with the fact that we don't have to drive to Birmingham every Saturday! (Even though we wanted nothing more! ) Well done for all those that got a yes, it is a fantastic opportunity!
  4. My 2 little DDs were fascinated by this piece today at the PVP auditions - we loved it!
  5. Thanks grumpybearzuk, sounds like you handled it really well. I think I'm going to wait until the elmhurst letter arrives and then do both in one go! I'll probably try and pick a moment when she has something lined up to distract/cheer her up etc. I haven't told her ballet teacher yet either, who hasn't asked about it yet as the results were going to be out in July. I'll have to do that too at some point!
  6. Good luck to your dd too grumpybearzuk!, I still haven't told my dd about the RBS no letter! Hoping that she won't ask about either of the audition results until much later - I'll be honest but wrap it up somehow? Not sure how to break it to her? Does everyone always let their DDs or DSs open/see the no letter? I just don't want her to get upset about something that I have taken her into.
  7. Mine too grumpybearzuk! Although they seemed to come out early? I thought they were finishing at 3.45 and my dd was waiting at the reception desk for us! What a lovely school and building, and dd was not as nervous as the RBS audition. The whole thing was much more relaxed in terms of what they could wear, as well.
  8. It's a no for Year 4 JAs for us too , we auditioned at Birmingham and the results have at least come much earlier than we expected - short and swift! I haven't mentioned it to DD and will only let her know if she asks directly but to be honest she has forgotten all about it now. We are auditioning at Elmhurst next Saturday but will try not to get our hopes up. And I will make sure that I keep it as low key as is possible!
  9. Does anyone have size 3 satin ballet shoes pink for sale? Thanks Also RAD lavender short sleeved leotard in size 2?
  10. I was just wondering what time JAs have their lessons in Birmingham - is it a morning class?
  11. How would a child go about achieving better flexibility, apart from just practising straddle/pike etc - is there any frequency advice or 'training schedule' you could suggest, Anjuli_Bai?
  12. At the other end of the scale, my daughter is 7 nearly 8 and still in a primary class. She passed pre-primary with distinction but I worry that she should be starting Grade 1 work soon, certainly at the start of September. Am I being too pushy?! She has started Saturday lessons at another school where the RAD syllabus is followed and the teacher there spent some time assessing her and put her in a Grade 2 RAD class.

    Flexibility

I was just wondering if anyone has some good tips for improving flexibility as my dd1 takes after me and struggles with straddle. We do practise but not that much progress. Should it be every day/ twice a day or twice a week etc? We do warm up first.
  14. We're also 23rd June, Happymum, but not heard any details yet.
  15. DD auditioned in Birmingham today for Y4 JAs and it was a great experience, despite the rain - she fell fast asleep in the car afterwards and slept all the way home! All the staff were very friendly and encouraging.
  16. I have wondered the same thing - my DDs follow the BBO syllabus (British Ballet Organisation) and it seems good.
  17. We just had an e-mail saying that 20th May is full and would we mind auditioning on 10th June, to which I replied yes, of course! But no details as yet!
  18. We saw 'My First Sleeping Beauty' yesterday in Birmingham and I thought it was perfect, and there were lots of dads and a fair few boys in the audience. Altogether a charming and perfectly-pitched performance, the narrator really helped to explain the mime and it saved me having to whisper the meanings to my two, then missing the next bit. It meant that we could relax and enjoy - I even learned something! The workshop afterwards was a real hit and again there were some boys enthusiasticaly taking part. We would definitely take part in future similar productions.
