Bruce Wall
It has been reported in another forum that the legendary Maria Tallchief has died at the age of 88. A great dancer; a great woman.

Sim
RIP Maria...who blazed a trail for many who have come since. I never saw her dance live, but loved what I've seen on film, and also her interviews; she always came across as a very nice, very intelligent woman. Anjuli_Bai
Ernest Belcher (mentioned in the article) taught many who became dance legends. My first teacher, Marguerite Ellicott was one of his students, too. Southern California boasted a nest of terrific teachers and schools.
Anjuli_Bai
In the Dance Llinks today (Apr. 13) Bruce put in a link to several videos of Maria Tallchief dancing. She is partnerned by several legendary male dancers - including a young Nureyev in the full flight of his youthful ballon. I just spent a while enjoying these videos....the lovely arms, the lack of exageration, the musicality. You might want to give yourself a treat. alison
Sadly, the only thing I ever saw of her was on that DVD with Nureyev, but I really liked her dancing in that. Yet another legend leaves us.
