JulieW
Brilliant thanks. Can you tell us the other finalists? And I'd be interested to know how many entrants there were this year as last time numbers were very much down on previous years.
Jellybeans
So pleased to see a winner that didn't come from one of the big four ballet schools! Did all the entrants get to do their solos again or was that just a one off?
Petit Jete
Good morning. No,all the entrants danced their solos. There were 47 names in the programme although one or two didn't dance. Other finalists were, Rhys Yeomans, Drew Jackson, Lucy Renouf, Joseph ?????, Lucinda Strachen more! Sorry I don't have the programme any more, maybe someone one else could correct me?

Moneypenny
The winner was indeed a very worthy winner and the standard was very high throughout. I don't think it should matter which school the winner comes from and I for one was pleased to see certain students make it through to the final.
JulieW
Moneypenny - can your add any more names to the finalists for us.
maleballetdancer12
I remember a few names of the finalists - Joseph Aumeer, Lucinda Strachan, Emily shrub, Abigail baker. Not sure on any more names
Balletmumfor2
The runner up was Rhys Yeomans, a very talented 14 year old from Centre Pointe in Manchester.

Of course it does not matter which school the winner - or anyone else - attends but my personal view is that it is good to see schools other than the traditional top four classical schools having some success.
bluebell
Drew Jackson was also a runner up There were 5 in total Edited October 29, 2012 by bluebell
swanprincess
I think Bethany Wareing (Genee Dance Challenge level 2 winner) also competed. She's a lovely dancer, we go to the same youth ballet.
Pointytoes22
So pleased to see a winner that didn't come from one of the big four ballet schools! Are the four big schools RBS, Elmhurst, Tring and Hammond? Just wondering
Tulip
Lots of people argue about which schools are the top four. Lots of people come up with different views from each other.
Jellybeans
Are the four big schools RBS, Elmhurst, Tring and Hammond? Just wondering That is what many people think of, yes, but for 6th form more schools come into the mix!
Nana Lily
The Molly Lake Award is now for ages 14 to 16. It used to be up to 18, so for this comp sixth forms not relevant. NL
Lildancer96
Although many 6th form students including my dd are 16 till next summer . Lil

Nutcracker
The other four ballet students (of the ten who got through to the Finals) were Joseph Ngwanna-Aumeer, Abigail Baker, Katie Rogers and Emily Shrubb.

KathyG
Yes both Drew and Joseph are Elmhurst students , as are a number of the other finalists. I think there from year 10 Edited October 31, 2012 by KathyG
Nana Lily
Does anyone know how many student entered the compeition?
Jellybeans
47, according to petit jete's post, above. I am a little uncomfortable with the fact that the school of some of the students has been mentioned as it is perhaps without their permission. This is just like posting their address on the forum. Are the moderators OK with this?
tutoo2much
I think there should be some kind of privacy rule, though perhaps names and schools of competition wineers would be published elsewhere.
primrose
I think that the students would have to get the schools permission for such a big and public competition as this. Are the schools printed alongside the entrants name, if so then I am sure that the student would have permission, if they were trying to hide what school they attended then they wouldnt enter it into the competition details.
Jellybeans
I am not thinking about it from the perpective of the school or whether permission has been sought or not. If it were my child, I would not be happy that someone I didn't know had posted which school they went to without my permission.
drdance
Jellybeans it's a high profile competition so this information will already be in the public domain from the moment the finalists were announced
bluebell
The Molly lake program merely stated the name and number of each entrant-there was no mention anywhere of school, dance teacher etc unlike other competitions eg rad genee.
Lildancer96
I would imagine the finalists would welcome the publicity and I think that we all accept names are published when you enter competitions . I know that my dd's name has been posted on here before (not by me !) and I didn't have a problem with it as the results were merely copied and pasted from a RAD web page. Jellybeans
Some of you will by now realise that I am a little pedantic but it is done with the best possible intentions! I have googled Molly Lake and the only mention of this years competition is the entry form and the postings on this site. The information is therefore not in the public domain. if details have already been published in an official capacity it is a little different and in some circumstances parents will have been asked if the agree to details being published.
