Nana Lily
Hi and congratulations to your DD's!! Its usually the end of July/beginning of August before we get the letters with the exact details of your contribution, but finance can give you a close estimate. Enjoy the 7th, its a lovely day! KathyG
Although not a new parent we will be there next Saturday, looking forward to just seeing DS as he's not performing much that day. Enjoy the day.
JulieW
I'm glad you started this, if only to say that we'll be there with my two other children, hubby and two sets of grandparents (never managed to get that many of them together watching Josh dance at the same time) on the Saturday afternoon. Please don't be shy in coming to say hello - just ask a member of staff who I am if you haven't worked it out by the clues - most of them know me It takes a while to get the financial stuff sorted, but have a wonderful morning and hope to see you in the afternoon

Stirrups36
we'll be there as well on the afternoon of the 7th watching DS in year 8 as well as all the other years and hoping to say hello to JulieW as it may be one of the last times possible (did the time really fly past so quickly?). so that's me, my wife and 2 daughters
Evie
Hello to new parents, my ds will be starting in September too. We received our letter today too. He will be in year 7. It's starting to feel a bit more real now, looking forward to the 7th July and watching the show too. He already has two friends from JA classes there in year 8 and knows 4 other of the boys that will be starting too.

Anon2
Lala, Phone finance at the school, even if they can't give you the exact figure yet they will be able to give you a rough idea of your contribution. We hadn't heard a few years ago when we went for induction and finance director said she would give us an idea then if we wanted. We didn't because there used to be a chart on the RBS website so we had an idea anyway.
Lala
I have a rough idea what I will need to pay but would just like a definate figure. So I have something to work on and then I know how much overtime I need to get booked in lol!
Anon2
I don't think she would mind if you asked! When I asked at induction she commented on the fact that she understood the need to know ASAP as everyone needs to sort out that they would have a lump sum they need to account for. Ours didn't come in the end that year until mid August!
wildflowers
We got an estimate and the actual was near enough. This year we took the option to pay monthly via a company who specialise in school fees, you will be sent details about this when your first invoice comes through. Has worked well for us - helps spread the pain over the year!
Lala
That's interesting, I didn't know you could do that. Thanks Wildflowers x
Stirrups36
The estimate is pretty good. As for overttime, remember that will have an effect next year as your income will increase. Therefore increasing your parental contribution next year. This does need to be kept in mind when doing your budgeting. And paying monthly can be a good idea. We do this although as always with such schemes, you do pay a fee for the yearly credit. So overall it is more expensive. If you can get an interest free loan (!) for theyear, thatwould probably be less expensive. Edited July 3, 2012 by Stirrups36
JulieW
If you can get an interest free loan (!) for theyear, thatwould probably be less expensive. We "drew down" on our mortgage while the interest rates have been low.
BankruptMum
We found it easier to suffer the 'hit' of the first invoice then put a monthly sum into a separate account each month which would cover the invoice when it next arrived - no fees incured!
JulieW
Have a lovely time tomorrow everyone I'm sure all your children are very excited. When Josh started at Elmhurst he couldn't go to the induction day as he was performing at the Linbury so I went on my own!! Bit weird, but needs must.... Please come and say hello (as I said before, I'll be there for the afternoon show) - I'll be the one with four fairly elderly relatives and a couple of teenagers (and a husband ). I'm shortish, fattish , with a mid-brown bob hairstyle with fringe! Probably wearing a reddish orange top, but if I'm feeling summery it'll be a similarly coloured maxi dress . I'm happy to answer any questions - might not be able to help the girls so much as the boys, but also had lots of experience of homesickness if you want to talk about that.

Seagazer
Julie- such a shame I can't be there tomorrow, would love to thank you personally for the great help and advice you gave me two years ago. I'm missing the 6th form induction but will be watching from Weds- having seen the rehearsal pics I'm really looking forward to 6 th formers- especially the ballet and jazz. Emotions will be running high by Friday. I hope all the new starters parents find the staff as warm and as genuine as I have. I cannot imagine a houseparent better than the one my ds has had for the past 29 months.
KathyG
Maybe we should all wear something to identify ourselves tomorrow so we will be able to meet. We were like Julie went on our own to the induction, we looked a bit odd without the child. We will be on the look out for ballet0 as her daughter is going to be sharing with our DS next year. I'm a bit on the shy side but I'll be with a little old granny, bleach blonde daughter and a loud sister and I'm hoping to wear my pink shoes and pink top! and after the show a tall red hair DS.
Nana Lily
Have a lovely time at the induction day tomorrow! We will be there for the evening performance due to casting, so will probably miss most of you. Hope the weather is kind as the children have played outside for the last two years on induction day, but even if its raining cats and dogs, they wont mind. They (and you!) will be so excited its a wonderful day and so lovely to watch the show after. NL xxx
celb
Have a wonderful induction day tomorrow to all the new starters. Lala
I think my daughter is the only year 10 girl starting but I may be wrong. My husband can't make the induction day so Im bringing my older daughter along as she has never seen elmhurst. Look forward to seeing everyone x
