angel
It was Pictures, there were several other teachers there as well as the RBS teachers. The format was different last time my DD attended. They watched a lecture style class while the outreach dancers were in a class upstairs out of the way. Pas de Quatre
In the past I have had students in this type of class and other times have gone on my own as a Teacher to observe. They are really useful to keep your eye in and your brain sharp!
Pointeyourtoes
Thanks for the info re teachers. I was just worried that as DD has had a bad class it might reflect on her badly in the auditions later in the year. Has anyone every heard of Whote Lodge showing interest in a child after a workshop like this?
Picturesinthefirelight
Obviously I don't know anything about the classes etc but just to reassure you Excercises taught at Paris Opera are hard. Dd has been learning a sequence for a forthcoming assessment that her teacher was taught at or by someone at Paris Opera & it's really demanding (& she has the advantage of an English speaking teacher) As angel said in an earlier post its possibly very different to the kind of training our UK children are used to.
Pointeyourtoes
Thanks Picturesinthefirelight. It's just a rush of emotions and worry. First elation, that as a non vocational, non associate DD was selected, then disappointment that she wasn't focused on in the class and then concern that it may reflect badly for her in the upcoming auditions. I wonder if these Masterclasses are a pre-audition?
Dreamy11
I don't think these master classes are a pre audition. No one from white lodge was at the Danish masterclass - their decisions for finsls will come from the auditions themselves in January. It sounds like this masterclass was perhaps more challenging? Pointeyourtoes
It does sound like it. Did most people attend both classes? We didn't apply for the first one .
Dreamy11
Just the first one for us, I did notice the majority seemed to be associates, especially in the younger class. Edited November 10, 2015 by balletqueen
Pointeyourtoes
I'd love to know how the minds of the people in charge worked! I agree, ballet queen, the students were mostly associates in our group. And I'm sure there were some vocational students too (including the girl that the teacher liked). Dreamy11
Tell your dd not to worry, the audition itself was fairly basic last year and the panel are all very friendly. She shouldn't worry, just enjoy it.
Pointeyourtoes
Thanks ballet queen. It would be nice to get done feedback sometimes so we didn't waste everyone's time.
