  1. @supergoldenAbsolutely! I won't return it until Wednesday morning at earliest.
  2. Hello all, I splurged on a more expensive ticket for Campbell's last show so I am offering my ticket Amphitheatre A65 here first to (hopefully) make sure a passionate fan can make it to his last show! £79. DM me if interested.
  3. There’s no point trying to find logic in ballet storylines! 🤣
  4. It was rather daunting standing next to him at the stage door! And charming and funny. Claire Calvert is an exceptionally lucky woman!
  5. Thank you for posting this, I was so looking forward to seeing him dance this role this season. If only he could have at least held out until June!
  6. I didn't get the impression that a lot of people in the audience knew that Alexander is retiring though! I thought that the cheering for him at the end was going to be much louder! But I often find that Saturday evenings have audiences that are more casual goers.
  7. There was a standing ovation (at least in my section) tonight for Hayward and Campbell.
  8. I was there tonight, what an absolutely gut-wrenching performance. Alex and Frankie's chemistry is incredible and you can tell they trust each other so much. It is a crime that we will never have a full-length recording of their partnership. I didn't see her Manon with Sambé but I heard several people in the audience talking and saying that she was far more expressive with Alex. I always love his dancing, but it was his incredible acting that was especially showcased tonight. I very much liked his Act I solo, in the beginning he danced like he was showing off for a pretty girl and by the end you could feel that turn into deeper love (if you can truly love someone you just met!) All of his dancing tonight was rock solid, expressive, and musical; I love that he never sacrifices artistry to get his leg up or jump as high as possible. Afterwards I waited at the stage door for the first time, it was a lovely experience. There weren't too many people waiting tonight, which I was grateful for! We were allowed to wait inside and both principals came out within about 30 minutes of the show finishing. They were both very friendly, sweet, and appreciative. I told Frankie the performance had made me cry and she said 'Good! I like to make people cry!' I stumbled over my conversation with Alex a bit more as I feel genuinely devastated he is retiring, but hoped I managed to get across even just a fraction of my appreciation for all the amazing performances he has given over the years. Here is my own photo, though the quality is not as good as @bangorballetboy's!
  9. Quick there are some tickets available again for the final performance! I will now be able to see Alex's last two performances!
  10. A few tickets for the performance on the 2nd are now available, though they are mostly the most expensive ones! Have been watching closely and have seen none for the 8th.
  11. And Vadim was best man at Alex's wedding! I think there are few co-workers that close!
  12. And he never danced Siegfried in Swan Lake either, which I always thought was a travesty. He really was under-appreciated!
  13. Thanks Capybara. Do you think it will be as hectic as that in the second to last show as well?
  14. Congrats! Out of curiosity does anyone know if there is a certain time of day resales are put back on the website, or is it just automatically as they come in?
  15. Thanks so much for the information! Yes, I expect it will be a long night!
  16. What a beautiful way of succinctly putting everything I have been reflecting about since the announcement. I have always enjoyed his performances most, especially the ones with Hayward. What always strikes me is his attention to detail, how every movement of all body parts seems thought out. His hands especially always catch my eye: he is so delicate when he carefully presents his hand to his pas de deux partner and yet your eyes are drawn to the subtle flourish with which he does it. He isn't flashy; his dancing is precise, clever, tight, unique, and it works so well particularly within the company. There isn't another principal at the company who I think dances like he does. It is a great loss and I'm slightly devastated by it, though I think this selfishly as I'm sure it is a huge opportunity for him and his family!
  17. Hello everyone. I have never stage doored before but am considering doing it after Alexander Campbell's penultimate performance on 2 March. I'm wondering if anyone here has been to stage doored a retiring principal before, and how hectic it is. And I'm also wondering if anyone knows how long Alexander Campbell usually takes to come out, if he seems pleased to do it, etc. I wouldn't want to do it if he didn't seem to appreciate it! Thank you.
  18. Have to say I am quite devastated by this news as I had hoped to see him for years to come. I am very fortunate to already have had a ticket to the performance on 2 March. I've never thought to wait by the stage door for a photo with the dancers before but given it would be my last ever chance I am tempted: is this something people do? If someone is promoted in his place surely it will be Joseph Sissens?
  19. I was at the Calvert/Edmonds performance as well. I thought that her Odette was really lovely. She seemed so natural in the acting and was compelling throughout. She really has the arms of a swan. I didn't find the Odile very compelling, however. I thought she seemed a bit timid and like she could have milked the seductress aspect harder and there seemed to be a real concentration on doing the steps (which weren't always well-executed) rather than performing. The real standout to me was Joseph Sissens as Benno. What a future he has. It seems particularly cruel that the pairing don't have a second performance. I would love to see them again once the nerves had cooled down. It was lovely to see the support from the dancers in the audience and online. It seems like such a supportive company.
