  1. Yes she does 3 solos, ballet, tap, and modern, she loves everything about festivals, what does yours do?
  2. Where are there as well! I think this is a hard festival, well it has been in prev years x
  3. We have just finished festival and what a few days, Geoff Lucas was brilliant, love his comment very constructive and honest, I really do think he is brilliant. My dd done her ballet solo which is really hard for her age group, but commented how hard it was but my dd had the technique to do it well I mean, she has a double pirouette in it and she is 8 years old! She got placed 1st, I'm so glad he looks at the technique as well as the stage presence, as so many times before that had not been the case, well on to the next and Craig Bartley, anyone had him before? What's he like? My dd loves festival, I'm not so keen, but she loves them so that's all that matters x
  4. Hi thanks everyone! We had Geoff Lucas he was actually very good, he was looking for good solid technique, can remember when placing he was on stage doing jumps and making sure there heels were going down x
  5. Does anyone know what these adjudicators look for at dance festivals, are they looking for great technique, are they looking for potential, are they looking for steps beyond there age group, just ask out of interest, as we have been to festivals before and watch, thinking we know who is going to win, as they have the best technique, ( well our opinion. ) then some else wins with really hard steps in, any ideas would help, or is ita question that we will never know the Answer?? Thanks
  6. Yes we are auditioning this year, it was a no last year but dd want to try again, I'm a little less stress this time as know what the process is, good luck. To everyone auditioning and the wait x

Does anyone have any information on this, was thinking of letting my daughter audition for this! Does anyone know what Sunday it is each month, any information would help?
  8. What a lovely story! I also have a 8 year old, who normally takes her exams before the rest of the class, and I think the reason for that is 1. She has a total love for ballet. - and it's her life, and 2. She does have a private lesson to work on technique and add just a bit more so she does not get stale. On my dd last ballet exam she scored 98, so at that point I thought yes it was time to add abit more, so we successfully auditioned for Tring parks classical ballet academy. Then at that point her normal class teacher then let her do the grade and the grade above. Meaning she does grade 3 and grade 4, which she loves, and in the time she has being doing this I feel it has pushed her forward, she loves learning new stuff! I will say in a small school, it is hard to get the extra classes in cause they just don't have them available and I do feel sometimes parents and children do not except my dd for her ballet ability and we do get the odd comment or moan about her going into the higher grade, but I have learnt to ignore it and think of number 1 and ghats my daughter, and I will do all I can to help her achieve her dream. Good luck and I know how you feel,
  9. Does not sound normal to me, my dd is 8 does istd, she is doing grade 2 exam after Christmas, but has always done the grade and grade above, as her teacher feels she has potential, and wants to push her, our teacher always says its important to go up the grades as you add to the steps as you move up each grade x
  10. Think the youngest are 8 years old x
  11. Congratulations to all, cannot of been many place in group 1 or any, so what an achievement xxxx my dd is already in group 1 and loves it, so I'm sure yours will x
  12. Ah well good luck when do you find out, how old is your dd?
  13. How did the auditions go? We're there many auditioning?
  14. Totally agree with above, ordered something 4 weeks ago, no reply to emails, no goods, no refunds,
  15. Yes group 1 is very full to be honest, but good luck xx

  18. I'm in total shock to the amount of dancing some children do, are these children not tired, school all day and then lots of dancing, mmmm think I might need to increase my dds dancing, she is wanting to go to vocational school when she is 11, looks like she won't even have a chance getting in with doing the little dancing she does x Thanks everyone for the information
  19. This is a general question How much dancing does an average 9 year old do? And what grade should a 9 year old be at? Thanks
  20. Well the istd awards are done and dusted, so thought I would update you all My dd was in group c with about 25 in each section, an amazing day, and a really enjoyable experience, and really do recommend doing this, my dd was called back to dance in the final along with 25 other children, but was not placed, but what an achievement even getting to the final. As I say a really lovely day and really would do this again, everyone was lovely and my dd enjoyed every single moment x
  21. 3 weeks away from the istd awards, anyone else doing them??
