  1. its a yes for my DS we are beyond excited!!! he has been dancing less than a year, mostly all of which has been on zoom, but has worked really hard!! Good luck to everyone else!!
  2. glad you DD is enjoying it despite being on Zoom, I don't think DS will get into anything this year but thats ok its what we are expecting still fun trying out .
  3. Just copied this from the CBA email I got for those who have auditioned both: 'Successful candidates will be considered for intake to the Summer term, commencing 25thApril 2021. ' Hope this helps. Goodness knows when the RBS ones will be...
  4. Good luck to all that have auditioned for RBS JA and CBA, this is our first year trying auditions, I saw on a letter that CBA wanted to let people know by the 15th April because they may ask some to start in the summer term with starts the 25th April ?? did anyone else see that? I might look back at the emails to double check.
  5. We applied with the blessing of our dance teachers.
  6. Does anyone know if the London RBS classes have been moved permanently on Sundays or is it a temporary measure for COVID
  7. I run my DS social media account it is set to private , there are positive and negatives, but it also down to the person how they deal with social media. We do not use it to compare DS to other children he is what he is and can do what he can do end of. I post a journey of his adventures initially it was a sport he was doing an now dance. through this account, he has had the most amazing opportunities, made amazing friends and he wouldn't be on the once a month associate programme he is now which helped him immensely after his confidence being so low from a sport, that made him not want to live anymore - aged 8 at the time!! I know some parent judge us for posting, and that's fine , because I could not give two hoots. We are realistic on our account it is a mix of cool edited photos fun videos and general everyday type ones, all to document a journey nothing too serious. He does not see messages unless I show him, he does not deal with friend requests and he comments on things that are appropriate under my watchful eye. He promotes encouragement and positivity to others and is not harming anyone in any way. If you choose to look at other accounts and judge your own child or compare them to others then that is a question for yourself, if you use social media as a source of information for events, celebrating other achievements and celebrating your own child and not to take anything to seriously there would be a lot of happier people. I think people get to caught up in it and read into things way too much.
  8. Birmingham is north for us 😂, yes technically Midlands. We are the very south of the country.
  9. My DS has a high number of followers on instagram but that is not reflective of his ability to dance, it was gained through another sport, and becoming an ambassador, so never judge a social media account by the followers! I also strongly monitor who is accepted which I know from sound accounts with thousands how many strange people they have on theirs. We like to keep it real and positive to encourage and support others. My DS was known for the sport he did so very publicly leaving that sport spurred so many questions from strangers about his choice to dance. some supported him some didn't but maintained its him warts and all take it or leave it, he is far from perfect come along for the journey or not lol. My DS is brand new to dance, we follow lots of dancers on instagram both boys and girls and did take a guess at who would get places, due to their 'look' but also ability. We have a year to apply for vocational if that is the route to he would like to take, we have to see how he gets on, at the moment he really wants to . It is interesting that alot of people have noticed people from the south getting in to the bigger schools, because being from the south, we notice how many dance opportunities are up in the north (Elmhurst, Northern Ballet, Yorkshire, BRB etc) . My DS is part of an dance associates where most boys are all from the midlands up , so we have not met many southern boys! The posts on here are so interesting , especially this thread, it has opened my eyes to how we view social media posts and how much we read into what is posted.
  10. so people who have been on waiting list before, is there a set time when places are offered if there are any spaces or could they happen at anytime? I am certainly not expecting anything here but was curious.
  11. I know what you mean , it would be easier if we were told ( not the children)their body type was wrong as it would save alot of time and money applying for places they had 0% chance of getting in based on body type. It would give us parents the chance to steer them in a different direction or go for schools where that is not an issue or another pathway entirely. I have already prepared my son that he might night have the 'look' that a place requires and that it is not based on his ability, not made a big thing of it, but said there are situations where that does happen and to not be discouraged by it.
  12. How are we going to cope? we have sooooooo long to wait 😂
  13. does anyone know what days London or Eastleigh classes are please?
  14. it already seems like quite a long window
  15. Just seen the email to say they have increased deadline for another week
  16. does anyone know if the financial assistance form needs to be filled now or only if a place is offered?
  17. Thanks so much, yes I cannot wait to see how he progresses.
  18. After reflection, and letting my son know, we are actually pretty happy with Wait List he only started ballet (no previous experience in dance) in the lockdown last year trying his first ever ballet lesson in May last year then not starting in a studio till the autumn and being at home on zoom for the majority. After speaking to his teacher who was super happy with him, it made him feel like it was a good achievement. Well done for others with yes's and those on the Waiting list like us.
  19. Hi there I wonder if anyone knows the answer but If you put 2 centres down do you receive one email for one application or 2 emails if it goes out in centres? I have a long long wait yet but suddenly just thought about it.
