  1. Cast list for this evening - I was hoping this would have been posted before I left home! Hope everyone enjoys this evening. https://static.roh.org.uk/digital/cast-sheets/Ashton-mixed/Ashton-Mixed-CastSheet.pdf
  2. As a complete non-dancer it was certainly the most complex (and frankly hard work for the dancers) pieces I have seen. I mentioned that to one of the dancers who performed on Saturday afternoon and he agreed. If I'm honest I preferred Symphonic Variations but then I think most people would agree that is Ashton's masterpiece and I am hoping it will be back on stage sooner rather than later.
  3. Some rather lovely pictures from the ROH's Flickr account https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72177720298384119 https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72177720298378585 https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72177720298378810
  4. I would urge anyone who hasn’t had a chance to book for the Ashton mixed bill please do - an astonishing example of the genius of Frederick Ashton and the brilliance of the dancers of the Royal Ballet. Roll on next Saturday for the next instalment.
  5. Goodness me - Scènes looks one of the most technically demanding ballets I have seen (certainly a one act ballet). So nice to see Sarah Lamb - Vadim excellent as always.
  6. I presume that the offer to Friends/Patrons for one free programme in the Spring season is still valid? I didn't go to the recent mixed bill and before that it was still Winter for Swan Lake. I will try Saturday morning for the matinee as I thankfully haven't deleted the email!
  7. I remember watching this series when it aired in the mid 1990s - I must have been at college at the time. A fascinating but quite uncomfortable watch! I might start re-watching it on YouTube again as it will be interesting to see just how much the building has changed as I have only known it post-1990s rebuild.
  8. 9. As the mixed bill starts on this coming Saturday (it is usual to start with a matinee?) I thought I would start this new topic. There is also a filmed Insight this evening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMZuoPEYNBs Very much looking forward to these performances - and am booked for this coming Saturday matinee and the evening on the 30th. Might book for Monday 2nd May as well if I can cope with trains on a Bank Holiday!
  10. Absolutely - someone specialising in HipHop doesn't seem the obvious choice for a classic ballet company.
  11. Lovely to see Liam Boswell get a prominent role - I first saw him in 2019 when the RBS performed Liam Scarlett's The Cunning Little Vixen and he stood out for me then.
  12. I don’t want to prejudge the mixed bill as I’m not going until the 2nd but as a very general question - what input/control does Kevin O’Hare/Royal Ballet have over newly commissioned works?
  13. Some rehearsal pictures of The Weathering from ROH's Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/albums/72177720297536330
  14. Although I am at work I did log in to check the prices - much as I would like to have gone I can’t justify spending that sort of money especially with council tax and energy prices going up next month. I do hope they are able to sell out for such a worthwhile cause
  15. I see there's camera filming on 24th March and 1st April - does that mean they plan to stream this in the future do you think? Still plenty of seats available - I'm booked for Saturday 2nd.
  16. I would agree with you Antica - I felt a bit underwhelmed - I should just preface that by saying that I wasn't feeling great and I had a complete fidget sitting next to me after the first interval (he had sat with his mate in another seat for the first two acts and someone hadn't turned up) and he kept looking at his mobile which I was very tempted to grab and but managed to restrain myself. Bracewell was magnificent and whilst it may be unfair to compare him to Vadim who I saw a fortnight ago, his acting was certainly much more expressive.
  17. From Francesa Hayward's IG: https://www.instagram.com/p/CbIxMhBNYL7/ Looking forward to Wednesday evening !
  18. It happened to me twice - its a bit of a rigmarole to be reinstated and I asked why I had been kicked off. IG apologised and said it was nothing I had done - it was just random!
